Perhaps we have different opinions on what "exactly the same" means.

The 996 interior comes from the same period as the late 90s ford taurus. All those organic ovals look dated as hell and cheap.
It appears his comment was about the 997 Turbo and the 09 Cayman interiors, not the 996.

Yes most of the switch gear, wheel, rt side dash are the same. Why do people say that the 996 interior looks like 90s is beyond me. It looks fine. It's not the best, but it's not terrible by any means like you make it. 997 is very flat and lacks character.

Don't try to figure individuals out. That's why there's an entire curriculum called psychology. I also have a 96 993. The interior looks like it's from a 90's Porsche, which also looks like a 80's Porsche, which also looks like my 79 Porsche and I love the interiors. The 996 interior doesn't look like it's from the 90's. Besides, you're buying the car, buy what you like and ignore others opinions. When I'm ready, I'll get a newer one, but it won't be based on someone else's thought process.

I really don't give a shizzle if an individual or group of individuals likes the 996 interior or not. For what it's worth, I like the 997 interior as well. I don't feel a need to compare.

Actually my 996 interior was one of the reasons I selected it.

Great interior. I like a simple clean austere look. It will always be a classic, kinda like homes. I like the look of contemporaries initially but long term I always go back to a colonial

I like the full leather interior of the 996. The standard 996 does suck though compared to the stock interior of a 997 becuase of the dash board material used. All the old dash boards are much improved all over the car industry with the new material they are using now.
Though if your talking about a full leather interior of the the 996 Turbo and C4S came with stock, to me it is on par with the 997 with the only real difference being 996 having rounder lines and the 997 being boxy. I like both but I prefer the 996 window buttons on the center console rather then on the doors.

My Turbo interior is perfect and it still impresses many people who jump in for a ride.

I like this thread. Makes me feel good about my purchase decision!

I had looked at 997TT cars, enthralled with the idea of PDK and sub-3-second 0-60.
I decided to keep with $50k entry price and do some tuning and learn how to shift faster...

Went back and fixed my original post due to the above...
The one thing I failed to mention, the upgrade to a 997tt was not worth the extra $30k. I did it for my business (it's my company car). The 996tt is still an undervalued bargain, even with recent uptick in prices.
