Default HELP: Which turbo to buy? 996 TT? X50? GT2?

Hi guys,

I have decided to buy a 996 turbo and would like some greatly appreciated advice on my dilemma. I am considering the standard 996 turbo or possibly an X50 TT or 02' GT2.

The reason I am considering a standard 996 turbo is beacause I was going to modify it or the obvious, for financial reasons. However, I do have concerns of voiding the warranty with extensive mods. If I purchase an early 996 tt, I would keep my M5 as well.

If I buy the X50 or GT2, I will probably sell my M5 and buy an inexpensive sedan, such as an Accord or Infiniti G35 as my primary daily driver.

I will be using the 996 turbo as a partial daily driver and weekend toy (3 days a week).

What would you do? Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Sandy

I'm a biased X50 owner, but haven't driven a GT2. An02 X50 might be the best answer for you. Seems like the ZO6 is your thrill ride. AS

You are on the turbo board. I am surprised that anyone voted for the GT2 at all, as many people think it is spawned from the loins of the devil himself, and will throw you off the road and kill you at the first opportunity.

Truth is, the GT2 is a kick in the pants to drive. The TT is somewhere in between your M5 and the GT2. Drive both. That will answer your question.

Buy an 02 turbo mod it and you will blow away an X50 or a GT2 for a lot less money.

Buy a 1992 Toyota Supra Turbo and mod it and you will blow away a TT, X50 or GT2 for a lot less money.

I love my X50! But you have to take into consideration how you plan on driving it most of the time. Road trips or track time or both. If your into moding it go for the "regular" TT. I think all the money on mods is just as good as flushed down the tolet though when it comes time to sell. So resale value is another consideration, Unless money dose not matter.

Anyway my 2 cents worth.

If you take the car to the track, its got to be a GT2. If not, keep the M5, great car and much more comfortable.
