Default Will 997 Wheel Hubs fit 996?

Does anyone know if the 997 wheel hubs will fit a 996? Also I know front and rear have different part numbers but they look identical - are they interchangeable front to rear?

Thanks

Yes, 997 part numbers supersede 996 numbers (and appears a 991 is latest rear revision), and different front vs rear

I quickly glanced at PET and it looks like the latest front hubs are a 991 part number (991-341-605-03). The latest rear hubs appear to be a 997 part number (997-331-605-01). Could be that the rears have a new revision but I did not see it.

lol funny enough John I still see a 997 # for front and 991 # for rears...go figure.
Might email my Porsche parts guy tomorrow and see what's what and get some pricing, will probably refresh the rear hubs over the winter

Finally picked up the rear 300M hubs today... I have to say they exceed my expectations. These are forged out of 300M (Vacuum remelt steel), heat and cryo treated. Based on the metallurgical assessment, these are calculated to be close to 200% stronger that the OEM hubs. I do have an extra pair available if any hardcore track guy is interested. On the stock hubs I've been averaging 2000 track miles between failure$ so the OEMs are an annual replacement for those tracking hard averaging 20-25 days per year.

Thanks Rob. Yeah, PET is not always accurate.

Thos are nice! Just curious how much you want for them? I don't even have a car yet lol just curious for when I get one as the cars I'm looking at for the most part are already modded cars (let the previous owner take the hit on modding costs ) This seems like a nobrainer type mod as I do plan to track the car a few times a year.

John - what do you consider failure of the hub? Was it the thread you made before "check your hubs?"

I think I may have detailed it in the other thread on the 6GT forum but here are some pictures of the failures on the hubs. They normally fail just outboard of the bearing at the base of the hub "neck". This area is a stress riser. The combination of the torque and lateral flex is what eventually fatigues the metal.

Failed 996 hub:

Failed 997 hubs:

As I detailed in the other thread, here is some of the collateral damage when the hub fails. You will also damage the caliper and destroy the axle in the process as the splines get sheared off. The parking brake shoes also get damaged.
