I had a 997.2 GT3 shifter and a Numeric. I wasn't that thrilled with the GT3 shifter but love my Numeric and Numeric cables.

Try before you buy. Some people mistakenly think the a short shifter is always a better for these cars vs. a shifter with more defined longer throws. While a short shifter generally works ok on a TT gearbox, it does NOT work on a GT gearbox.

I think the 997 shifter throw is just right. 996 is too long definitely.

I've had the 997 GT3 short shifter and a Numeric. I prefer the Numeric. Just feels more solid

I have Cup shift levers on my transmission and the Numeric set for longest throw works very well.
