Default High HP Turbo Shoot Out

Ok boys. I was very disapointed to learn that the original Excellence article was not going to happen so I said **** it and I'm going to figure this out...

Screw Excellence I went into a real Mag (European Car) and have just gotten off the phone with them. There is VERY real interest in this. They did an S4 thing and had already thought about doing this. The timing may change as may the venues since they are based in So Cal. But I need a few things so that they can have a meeting and decide upon it:

Things I need from you guys:
1)List of the cars and Tuners involved. This is open to ANYONE.
2)Would another track be ok?
3)They have connections and would get a Porsche racer to do the driving. They would do the writting as well. This ok so far?
4)If we still can Comp Tires, cover the track/dyno costs amongst ourselves that would certainly help. I don't want to go begging for a few $$ to have them pay for it if we don't need to.

Anyways, no promises but I'll be darned if this isn't going to happen. These guys seem very interested. That is all.

Any questions call me on 408-528-7775 or email me sharky@mangogrits.com

PS Sorry for being self-appointed instigator.... That can be changed

PPS JD I hope this qualifies as appropriate. If not please let me know. I'm just trying to get any Tuner/Owner that might be interested in doing this forever-taking shoot out is all.

Its about time somebody stepped up. At least a handful of you guys on this board have some of the wildest street legal cars in the country. The resulting "shoot out" would sure be one of the best articles ever published. Looking forward to it. May I suggest 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile and track time comparisons at a minimum. A dyno would be great also (Dynojet preferably). Best of luck with this Sharky!

Hi Erick,

Those are all things we discussed doing this afternoon I think we're going to need some luck to keep all parties happy but so far so good. I did get a very good feeling from them this afternoon on doing the piece so we shall see

What track are they talking about? Willow Springs seems like the natural choice and it's close to LA. No quarter mile though. I wanna come and watch.

I have an S4 and hang around the Audiworld forums.

That was all the talk for weeks leading up to the shootout.

I believe someone offered dyno pulls for free, like GIAC...

They did quarter mile, stopping, track time as a comparison. Of course, none of the details would be allowed to be released on the forums cause the magazine said it would give away the results and hurt their story.

So, besides some leaking of info, have to wait months for the magazine to come out and see what the results were.

Other than that, it is a good idea and I am sure people would love it.

If you mean the shoot out article, then obviously no. I do believe that Excellence was doing a story on that car but you'd need to ask CJV obviously.

OK folks. We've got the nod from Dan at European Car. I quote "we're in". I'll get the details next week but I figured I'd let y'all know.

So start your engines!
