So in 02 my C4S brakes seemed astonishing.
Now my 04TT is meh. AFAIK they have the same system.

Brakes are to spec.
Has braking technology got that much better in the intervening time?

If so what's the favored reversible fix that will leave me two kidneys.

My 2003's are just fine. They are quiet and easy to modulate around town, can bring the car down from speed on the highway, and in emergency braking situations -- one arose a few weeks ago -- can bring the car's speed down at a rate and without the car getting out of control in a way that had me avoiding what seemed to be a sure accident. (Some butthead changed lanes right in front of me. It was slam on the brakes and hope the impact wasn't too severe. But there was no impact. Just me cussing the butthead for the next 4 miles until I ran out of words.)

Have you had the brake fluid flushed and bled recently, within 2 years?

I put on a set of GT3 calipers and some RS-29 pads this evening after running Kevins turbos at the track for the first time today. The difference bedding them in is immediately noticeable and I can't wait to try them at speed. Going up to 6 piston 350 is an easy swap that is reversible.
