Default Relocating battery?

Since my spare will not fit with the 350mm Brembo big brake kit i have on my car. This should be about the same size as the PCCB brakes, what do they do for a spare tire?

I was considering moving the battery down into the front where the spare was. It will lower the CG of the car, move the weight bias forward but also increase the polar moment. Over all i think it should be an improvement in vehicle dynamics.

Any comments or experience with this?

Seems logical, but the ideal - AFAIK - in weight distribution in a car is to keep masses within the wheelbase. Maybe a switch to a lightweight battery and relocation to the front trunk would make the most sense.

Only other effect I can see is that you're putting the battery in a more vulnerable spot in case of a severe front end crash. I think the remote chance of a short in that situation is raised slightly. Maybe not enough to be concerned about.

Sorry if you have posted previously, but is your car anywhere near full weight? I know every little but matters, but at 3300 lbs, shifting 50 lbs 1 foot or 2 is not going to do anything but cause you a new project. And these cars have enough voltage issues that you should stay FAR AWAY from any LTW battery.

I think Porsche engineered the battery location for a reason.

I'd say too much of a headache....just use a gel batt. Factory batt is 55lbs? I use a 15lb battery. I do keep it hooked to a batt tender though

Ok, don't think I am going to relocate the battery. Next question, do 996tts with pccb have a different spare? Searched on e-bay and the parts locator and could not find any reference to any thing but the standard inflatable spare.

PCCB cars have different spare. You can always install the GT2/3 foam tray insert with the OEM fix a flat bottle...
