Boost Pressure
Driving my 996TT, I get my boost reading between 0.6 to 0.7
Initially when I hit the gas at low revs(3000rpm), it climbs to 0.7bar then in the midrange(4500-5500) it drops to 0.6bar and then back to 0.7bar.
rpm readings are estimates.
Is this normal?
Would remapping the ECU and/or changing the exhaust/sport-cat make a difference in the boost?
I noticed an X50 TT having a maximum of 1.0bar boost, stock TT.

Ok - boost spikes are totally normal...
As for remaps, most ECU upgrades will run more boost through your turbos. I used to get 0.9 in stock X50 mode but now I get 1.2 bar (I think I saw a spike of 1.3 once too!!) all the time in IA600 mode...
A freeflow exhaust with less backpressure could increase your boost by 0.1 bar but its not that significant. An exhaust however (with race/less restrictive cats) will reduce your turbo spool time and os you will get max boost at a lower RPM...
Hope this rambling helps a bit

Thanks... I'll look into remapping my ECU.
I live in Singapore and the Techart Dealer here wants approx US$8,400 to send the ECU back for tuning to 470hp. I got a quote from Cargraphic and they want US4,700 for the reprogramming, however, I got to do the postage and installation myself.
Any ideas/comments? Don't hear/see of many discussions on Techart and Cargraphic Remaps.
Also our fuel here is 98octane RON and when we drive across the border to Malaysia we get RON97.

Thats ok, you can take the unit to just shy of 500HP with a set of 100cell cats and a better muffler, air cleaner and ECU. We also suggest replacing the compressor bypass valves with a billet version as the originals are known for tearing. The tip is a great car, ask Alex. He has pushed hid to 11.6 in the 1/4
