Default Rear facing car seat recommendations?

Hi everyone,

California law now requires that kids less than 2 years old or 40 lbs travel in rear facing seats. So I'm now looking for a seat for my 10 months old. Any recommendations?
The search function did not return anything valuable.

I carry my 6 month old in a Chicco Keyfit 30, without the base, anchored with the seat belt. It fits easily but you lose the front passenger seat (needs to be pulled all the way forward).

Thanks, Rick. Unfortunately the Chicco is an infant seat and my daughter is already too big for this seat...They grow way too fast!

Here's a great list (that's updated regularly) of the most compact rear facing seats.

Good luck!

I'm got the Maxi-Cosi-Pria 85 for my 1 year old.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Soon you'll be able to use a booster seat. My son is three and we use a Porsche Plus booster seat. He climbs in there and all I have to do is buckle him in. He loves it! It's great that all three of us can ride is something other than a sedan or SUV.

Sorry to stray from topic a bit...

Can you put a front facing car seat/booster seat for a 5 year old in the front seat? My nephew has been itching to go for rides in the car and his parents are ok with it, so I'm thinking to take him on one of the next non-spirited driving cruises, or to one of the cars and coffee/car show get togethers. I have GT2 rear carpet/seat and seatbelt delete... Really hope it's allowable to have him in front so I don't have to do an interior swap to take him out occasionally. I have no kids and we've never planned on it, so I've never looked into it and really clueless where to start even after doing a google search.

I swear when I was 5 I wasn't in a car seat, I just rolled around in the backseat and if I was up front I wore a normal seatbelt....

Put them in from the other side. Not really that bad and worth it to take the Turbo instead of the DD.

+1

And in my case, it's either that or the wife will ask me to sell the Turbo to get a sedan...

I guess it depends which state you're in. In CA if there is no rear seat, a child can ride in the front passenger seat, in a front facing car seat.
