Those are retail auctions. The dealer auctions (Manheim and ADESA) won't have the GT2's and frankly the higher end of the spectrum. I could post them up here, but last time I posted something that was perceived as a violation of the Rennlist terms of service, someone here started a campaign to get me banned. Sooo, if someone would like those numbers, shoot me a PM.
Not to make things worse but today I saw where an insurance company showed a 2005 TT's ACV as only $39,000. Good news for buyers I suppose.

^ACV would depend on miles and options. That has nothing to do with sale prices, a person could go through just about all makes and find same scenario.
I agree. It was just an example. I usually only buy from auctions now and keep a close eye on prices. ACV is usually an inflated ballpark number for auction price from what I've seen.
If you can buy from auctions and feel that you can pick a winner its the way to go. I have access to the local auctions but personally don't feel that's the best for me or something I want to do at this phase in life.

Absolutely. If your careful, there are some great bargains. My approach is a little different. I try to find specific vehicles that have value/potential that others may not see. So far I have been incredibly lucky with the last 4 or 5. I was hoping the success was due to my approach but its more likely good luck.
I have bought some, where just a few key parts are worth more than the auction price for the entire car. The downside is that when I have posted about a specific vehicle someone (or others) on here appear to be bidding against me. That's another reason why I'm trying to be more cautious with my posts. The other reason is that most of the 996 NA forum is an absolute joke and more suited for the OT forum than a "tech forum". A touchy group as well. OTOH I would be happy to take anyone's money for parts.
I use to repair and sell cars on a regular bases and it made for some nice extra cash. We would buy a group of up to ten or so cars at a time and part out what we didn't think was worth repairing. I like your ambition= our country is running on empty in that category.
