You will hear the throttle body click after successful e gas calibration.
I had similar issues and started here with e gas reset. I then cleaned the throttle body and contacts on the maf. Luckily it solved my issues.
I am new to my car as well so those symptoms scared me.

did the op ever solve this issue? I had something similar occur to my car (both in 2nd and in 3rd), except that when i switched off traction control it would stop occurring. With traction control on, it stopped occurring in 2nd gear after i switched my front tires to match my rear, but it still occurs in 3rd.

No. You should take the car to a qualified shop and have the intake cleaned out of tire slime and then have a new MAF fitted. Hopefully the plugs, sensors, and converters are ok. If not address these as the error codes appear.

I figure if its good enough to fix a tire at 40psi it has to fix a boost system that only holds 12psi right?

Since the car doesn't have a spare, i'd hate to waste my stop leak on intercooler hoses. I have however seen instances of epoxy holding up just fine.

The intake system needs to be as smooth and free-flowing as possible. If you spray some stuff in there that is meant to stop leaks, it will most probably also stick to the insides of the intake at various places and will hurt airflow and therefore performance. Then, when that goop gets into the cylinders and burns up, what kind of residue is it going to leave in the combustion chambers? Could be nothing, or could be bad enough to cause a build-up inside, which if bad enough will cause an increase in compression and lead to pinging similar to carbon build-up. Also, if it gets on the cylinder walls and has an unfavorable mixing with oil, it could scratch up your cylinder walls...
