Hypothetical question

in the event that this added info is accurate(?) i would probably change my mind if the cars were similarly kept, maintained, and optioned, and then go for the 05 and spend the 8k making it "mine". 65k is "nothing" in terms of mileage, long term.

Still have it and keeping it. Very good car. Well serviced by me and the original owner and I have all the service invoices since new. It s been very reliable and touch wood, I have had very few surprises. I m hankering for a cab though. Never had one and I m not getting any younger.

i have a hunch a few late 04 builds got thru before the rest of the parts got used to make the rest of 05 "S" cars. just a hunch though. i also found it curious, that x50 cars were all considered an "S" in europe. that was my weak a** justification for putting an S on my turbo lol. it sure looked good until folks laughed it off

I had it right the higher mile car is 8000 less than the lower mile car. Said I would happily pay the 8000 premium for the lower mile car. I personally would never ask anyone's opinions as I buy what I like and do not care what others think.

sure ok, i understand you to mean that the extra 8k premium for the lower mile car would be "worth" it to you? and you said as much and i agree. the 8k is defintely "worth" more for the lower 32k miles car vs the hi mileage x50 car, or would be to me too.
who knows what all else is even done to the x50 car. or either for that matter! lol

I ll probably sell one of them in the next couple of years when I get the itch for something different. However, I m a Porsche turbo fan. Don t like the big 991's so the choices are getting slimmer. Would consider a 997.1 but they are still pretty pricey up here. Given the crummy Cdn $, our choices are a lot more limited than they were a year ago.

No. I m considering them. Going to go for the lower mile one if I can satisfy myself as to condition.

To me, an $8k premium is only worth it if I get that much difference in enjoyment during my period of ownership, or if I have some chance of recouping the premium at some point in the future. If as you say, you might trade it in a couple years, I would base my decision on how many miles I will drive a year. If you only drive 4-5k miles a year, I would buy the low mileage car. In two years you'll still have a low mileage car and have some chance of recovering the premium. If you use it as a daily driver and put 20-25k miles a year, you will no longer have a low mileage car (as compared to others that will be for sale at that time) and less chance of recouping the premium. If I was going to use it as a daily driver, I would start with the high mileage car for $8k less. Assuming condition is similar now.
I guess you could also factor production numbers into your thought process. From Adrian Streather's book, only 122 MY2005 coupes were produced versus 1273 MY2004 coupes. I believe these must be world wide figures because only 185 or so TTS coupes were brought to North America. Looks like an 05 TT coupe might be pretty rare.
