My oil pressure at idle never is below 2bars. At its lowest it sits above 2 bars 2.1 - 2.2. So not so sure its the same for every car. Run the car till water temp gets Up to temp, then run it for 10 more minutes and see where the oil pressure sits at idle. That would be your benchmark.
Maybe my idle pressure is higher since i use 5w-50.

I also use 5W50, and my oil pressure is below 2.0 when the oil is completely warmed up.

Maybe oil pressure sensor gauges who knows. I can make a run for more than 2hrs in 90 degree ambient and it sits at a little over 2 bars. Dont know Doc!

X50 vs non X50? The higher capacity oil pump probably means higher oil pressure at idle.

The factory pressure sensor is not very accurate and will likely vary slightly from car to car. My engine has the dual pick up RSR pump and using 5w50 it would indicate right at 2bar or just a touch below on the factory dash gauge at idle when fully warmed up. The factory oil pressure sensor is independent of CAN bus or OBD. We installed a calibrated high quality oil pressure sensor and shows right at 1.6 bar idle pressure when fully hot.

Mine is at 2 bar, X50 with 0-40 oil.

I agree with Powerhound, but it also seems the X50 has higher pressure (on the gauge which doesn't mean much). My non-X50 sees hot pressure around 1.5 bar, when I drove TheBucketOfTruth's X50 pressure was at or slightly above 2 bar.

So, variance in sensor accuracy and higher capacity pump explains the difference.

The x50 pump in NOT higher capacity than the regular pump. Same flow. The difference is the the X50 pump is a dual pick up which provides better supply of oil to the pump under high G conditions.

X50 pump or RSR pump?

I just datalogged the cold to hot transition. 8 minutes from start-up ambient/oil temp of 26C to 'hot' temp of 80C; first 3minutes getting out of neighbourhood then 80KPH cruise for remaining 5minutes. When the OBC allows the oil level to be checked, the oil is at 75C (water temp of 82C)
Oil level check 'ok', means power on...

Excellent data! Thank you.

I'm lucky where I live, I get a nice 15 mins run at about 60 mph to and from the house on most days, heavily patrolled. My speculation is that the slow warm up and cool down have contributed to engine longevity. I'm currently at 461,260 in the garage tonight. Will probably put another 2500 on before Sunday night. Drive it, enjoy it, smile, in that order. Cheapest therapy known, at least I think so!

So the free-air temperature and the oil temperature was the same?
