What's the difference between this and the X73?

it is in the sense that the MO30 WAS/IS considered the "sport" suspension for 993 ( possibly earlier even ?? ) also the 996 and i'm pretty sure the x73 is the "sport" suspension option code and setup for the 996 turbo.

no 996 turbo came "standard" w x73 as it was an option. same with MO30 which are dampers that date back ( dont know how long but i had em on my 993 in 96? ) and were ( are? ) still available as parts ( bilstein ) that can be used on the 996 turbo platform but don't work well at all with stock springs. need tighter.. the mo30's are only "dampers" while the x73 as duly noted by the dude is a suspension package and was an available bolt on option. highly efficient ideally suited to the car for dual duty.

as to US vs ROW the ride heights are different ( lower row and higher for US DOT requirements? ) but not achieved with x73 setup unless ordered with it. i'm not in fact sure how much the lower the row ride height ( my WAG is about -10mm ) of row specs is achieved, but again i do know x73 wasn't "standard" for US or ROW. MO 30 WAS considered the "sport" suspension for 996 and predates the later designation of an all inclusive "package" ( x73 ) and given that the ride height X73 drop is roughly the same ( -20mm ) but you can get MUCH lower on MO30's on lowering springs, than can be achieved with an x73 setup. that said, it's a reasonably safe assertion they are not entirely different, excepting the foregoing. e.g. mo30's are dampers, while x73 is full suspension "sport" components all matched to work together.

-10mm drop front and -20 rear VS x73 "package" with a -20mm drop all around. yet still considered a ROW "sport" suspension "package".

mine are an early version circa 2007 with 15 rebound settings.600/800 lb springs olsen motorsports rebuilt them and they transformed the car
How do you like those spring rates? What's your street \ track ratio? How are they on the road? Been thinking about picking up a set of JRZ RS1.

they were on the car when i bought it so i don't have any comparison to anything else. the difference from first ownership to rebuild was nite and day

I got an email back from Gert at Carnewal, the shocks and springs he listed are ROW not x73. He said it will be very expensive to piece together x73 components, but I will try that next for a pricing exercise.

Well, you have gotten around 12 different opinions as to what you should do with the suspension.

Good luck getting a setup you can live with.

Hope you can avoid spending thou$and$ for a setup that gives you a bone-jarring ride or makes the car sound like a 1950's pickup on an unpaved road.

yes, as listed it's the "ROW" "sport suspension package" which is basically springs and dampers is all, but NOT the X73 "kit". if anyone can source that stuff it'll be gert. there are ways around this with matching components that are not "packaged", as such.

i think you've been given some great advice, wish i'd had this years ago lol

You can plug all the part numbers from Th Dudes post in post #18 into Sunset Porsches website at http://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/

Quite expensive and doesn't include the X73 motor mounts. I'd probably go with the RS mounts at that point anyway. Had those on my 993 and will probably install them on my 996TT someday.

Glad I bought a 996TT with a X73 suspension. Performs well on the street as well as the track. Great all around suspension. No muss no fuss.

I've not made any decisions beyond stock not being the answer.

Scott, ask Gert to price out the hardware and springs. We can source the shock in the US.. Shocks will run around $2500-2600

Default Good information.

From Mcbit's chart, there is another setup for 996's; the ones delivered ROW. This would have been the stock non-sport factory setting if not for the US DOT requirements. It's clear you can get some lowering by going with the ROW setup but it's not as severe as the X73.

I think if I do anything to my TTS suspension, it may be with the ROW springs.
