Default Failed NY inspection

Took my car in for a NY inspection today and failed emissions due too 2 monitors not being ready. I'm suspecting it's the tune on the car which is reportedly EPL. Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions on a work around? Drove the car from fl to NY now I have to park it until I get this worked out. Thanks for any advice.

Called Tony and he said he can't do anything unless I have proof its an EPL tune. I'm working with the previous owners on that but they can't come up with an invoice. Something about it would be ilegal for him to download the tune off my ecu if its not EPL. So I'm pretty much out of luck on that front. Which is strange since it looks like he's been able to help in the past no problem. I'll wait to hear from him tomorrow. This sucks I only have 10 days to figure it out.

I would be believe your vin would be in his records but I'm no expert.

You would think but nope he didn't record vins early on. My tune was done 4 or 5 years ago according to the previous, previous owner.

I guess if worse come to worse you can pay for a new tune= which is what I would do.

That seems like a waste given that this appears to be a known issue with the early EPL tunes and would cost them just about nothing to make it right. If worse comes to worst it's back to stock at the dealership I guess.

Ya, sorry about your tuning troubles. There are tuners out there who go the extra mile.

Maybe a new tune wouldn't be terrible. Good luck.

I have found a bunch of posts like #6 in this thread. Sounds like epl does typicly back up their products. Maybe they'll come through for me. http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...nsors-car.html

Hey John, not sure if you've blocked my phone, perhaps being upset at having bought a car which failed the emission inspection.. I've tried texting a couple times to tell you the license plate I loaned you to get home hasn't been returned as we discussed initially in terms of FedEx overnight return. I hope you worked out the emission issue!

Edit. Thanks for getting back with me!

It looks like EPL is going to sort this out with me but they are low on cables at the moment. Anyone near Albany NY with a VCDS/Ross-Tech cable that I can borrow for a day or two?

Why would I spend the cash on a new tune?

I know how you feel but it will more than likely be better/updated and you will have someone there when you need them= unlike now. Or go to dealer. Hopefully someone will come thru.
