Kevin,

How long would it take to do a zero clearance on a pair of my K24s and upgrading to a titanium wheel???

Thanks
Bob

Viperbob;

I'd like to say that it takes a week. In theory it could be out the door in 3 days...

I'll ask again...

How much $$? Lets say for a k26 with a #8 hotside if you need to know which turbo.

With that extra air to compress does this process increase lag at all?

I'm no expert, but I believe the whole point of the process is to reduce spool time and lag for full boost...

So I was a little surprised today when I tried to call Kevin and found that he is no longer there. We are now supposed to go through Stephen at Imagine Auto to get the work done by the same shop. I feel very comfortable with Stephen guiding this process for us Porsche Turbo guys.

So my plans worked out with Kevin were a little blown away when I found out that the shop is not going to do the zero clearance thing anymore. Apparantly, it took 2 guys 20 hours worth of work to do it. So I guess I'll just have to settle for a titamium K28 compessor wheel and ceramic coating... I think Sharky is one of the few guys that will have had this done...

Viperbob,

Hope your only disappointment is only that the work is not being done and not money out of pocket. What happened? Where is Kevin? Was the technology just to far reaching for the price vs results? It sure sounded reasonable for the proposed gains.

Good luck

What did Kevin go? Does anyone know if he joined a new turbo company or opening his own?

I am only disappointed in that the zero clearance work will not be done. It was just not really cost effective for them i guess, unless maybe you want to spend an extra $3-4K for work for the 40 hours of labor. Stephen is great to do business with, and will get the proper work that I need done on the turbos. I just wanted to post as a number of us had conversations with Kevin on what to do, and how much it would cost (this is still OK). So you should direct your questions to Stephen at Imagine Auto. That's all.

Don't know what, where, who, why, etc. All I know is that Kevin provided a lot of valuable information that help me learn about the turbos and turbo technology, and Stephen is helping me get the job done..

The zero clearance will return. It is that when Kevin left so did the knowledge to do the coatings. That was Kevin's baby....

Stephen

Thanks for the response. I was hoping to do some work with Kevin in the future. He obviously has cutting edge knowledge in this area.
