Default Long Awaited Muffler test results...

Alright gang, here it is. All the data you could ever want on a muffler. If you look on the dates of the dynos you will see it really took a month to put all the test together. I am honored the group would pick me to run these test. Hopefully this is up to everyones expectations.

Stephen,
Exquisite! You have truly outdone yourself! I can definitely see what you mean in terms of how various factors can influence a buyer's decision and how one "size" does not fit all. Sound, build quality, hp, tq, ease of installation, resonance and cost all influence a purchaser's decision. Your individual comments below each dyno sheet are great. I am in full agreement as to the methodology used in the tests yet can also understand Chad's previous comments that each system will shine in its own right when properly tuned to the car's specific setup. That said, I feel this test was conducted in a manner that will prove to be the most useful to the most amount of people. Kudos to you Stephen. This is truly a gift to all of us!
With sincerest thanks,
Ken

Great stuff Stephen! Having installed my own exhaust on my car, I can imagine the amount of work that you have done. Outstanding!

However, I am disappointed with the Ruf data, not your fault and I am not shooting the messenger! I am trying to understand the numbers.

My car is an MY02 X50, has the EVO Stage 4 ECU, Bailey DV's, K&N air cleaner, and the Ruf Exhaust. Din hp/tq were recorded at 498.95 and 536 respectively. Todd/EVO verified these numbers in AZ before I took my car back to CA.

The car did have 104 octane fuel, and the air temp was 96.55. 28.50 in hg, cf= 1.08.

Any comments would be appreciated

Thanks

John

We couldn't either. That is why the foot note. We feel that there may have been a problem with that specific muffler. Ruf is looking into it.

Awesome job PHD!!!!!!

I also agree that the Ruf Muffler must have had a problem. It was a massive improvement over stock on my car but numbers do not lie. Ruf will have to pay you to test another one.

Thanks again.
