Default Changing 2-DIN to single-DIN MOST/BOSE

Searched, and couldn't find definitive answer. Most available information is about upgrading to double-DIN. My car has the double DIN BOSE with nav system. I'd like to get more leg-room by installing the GT3 center console delete. To do that, I need to move the climate controls up, and pull the big head unit.

Is the CDR23 the right unit to use? Is it a plug-and-play solution for all the BOSE stuff already there? If so, would I need the 996-645-128 or -129? My guess would be the -129 (external amplification). Based on searching, if this works, I'd then need to find someone with a PST2.

Ultimately I want to stay OEM looking and get the extra room for my knee... Don't care too much about sound quality, losing the CDC, or gaining any BT or iPod or any other functionality.

Thanks for any help!
