Default 2 ?'s Can you run racing fuel at all times..

Is it bad for your car to use racing fuel on all fill-ups, all the time? My 2nd ? is where near Chicago do they sell racing fuel? Oh, 2 more ?'s, does octane booster accomplish the same thing as racing fuel and is it bad for your car?

Octane boosters are bad. However, I am not sure if full time use of 100+ octane unleaded is bad. During the summer months, I use a 50/50 mix of 91 and 100 octane. That makes the car run perfectly. I don't think you need to run 100 octane all the time anyway as your car is tuned to give its maximum potential with 93 pump octane.

i've heard there is a 76 near Santa Monica where u can get 100 octane (around Pico??)

so, in terms of mixing the fuel, if u get half 100 and half 91, will that really give u something like 95+octane?

Go to http://www.76.com/ and search on "racing fuel" and you'll get a link to a page that will have a link to a list the 76 dealers that stock 100 octane gas.

Nowhere. And, yes only 91 octane is available in Southern California. However, one can mix 100 with 91 octane for something more than 91. If you go here, you will find a table which shows the ratio of both needed to achieve a certain octane.

there a good amount of locations around that sell 100 octane. A few down here in OC and I know of a few in the valley. There is one at the very end of the 110 freeway in pasadena. Right where it ends on the right corner.

Remember that most racing fuels are leaded and the leaded fuels will shorten the lifespan of your O2 sensors considerably.

according to 76,

COMPETITION 100
Competition 100 (unleaded) is designed for high performance street cars, race cars, watercraft, motorcycles, etc. In fact, engines with compression ratios as high as 14 to 1 will benefit greatly from this clean-burning specialty fuel.
Controlled front end volatility provides freedom from vapor lock when you're on the hottest tracks and roads. A sophisticated additive keeps port fuel injectors, carburetors and intake valves clean. This unique fuel is formulated for all engines and blends with any street gas.

Our 76 Competition 100 Unleaded Racing Gasoline is the highest street legal octane available. It's specifically formulated for specialty vehicles and will never over octane engines.

this is the one i was talking about,

Intersection PICO/BARRINGTON
Corner of Intersection NE
Address 11675 W. PICO BLVD.
City LOS ANGELES
State CA
County LOS ANGELES

who have tried here? i don't wanna be the 1st

LSM,
There is a gas station across the street from Midwest Eurosports in Bensenville (on Irving Park Road, near O Hare) I forget the name of the station (not Mobile, 76 ect) They have 100 octane unleaded much cheaper than at the track. Last time I was there it was it was around 3.50 a gallon

CJV, throwing in some 100 octane along with 91 to make it close to 93 isn't a waste, right? Anyways, you should be using Alcohol already Man that stuff smells at the track...

PS When are you going back next. My car should be done early next week and a few of us are going to Sac on that following Friday.

Nod Perhaps if Arnie or Larry Flint take over we'll get 93/94 octane too.

Thanks Eric. Do you know how I can find the exact address??

CJV, I think I will run a blend. In chicago, we have 10%ethanol in our premium gas along with a "summer blend" which reduces emissions. Both these factors rob engines of power, so I am wrong in believing a blend will help my car run stronger?

BTW, saw an ad in "Excellence" with your car in it. That is a bada** ride.

The SteelCity station off I94 at the US20 exit in northwest Indiana sells 100 octane unleaded fuel during spring, summer and fall. I don't know if they have locations near you in Chicago, but it might be worth finding out. I use the fuel in my Elise 190R routinely, but haven't seen the need for it in my ttX50. AS
