Just a heat gun. Wear heavy duty leather landscaping gloves so you don't burn yourself as you press on the hot liner. Remove it from the car.

I actually heated up the liner with it still on the car. There's nothing behind the liner that doesn't already see a ton of heat and you're not heating the liner up enough to burn anything. Just softening specific areas of the liner.

I used the rounded edge of a railroad spike (that I use as a punch) to press and mold the liner. Worked great although any large punch would work as well.

Not that long. From cold a minute or so. You can see it slightly change color (almost looks like it gets wet) when it starts to soften. Once it's warm you just have to hit it with the heat gun for a few seconds to soften it back up.

It's very easy to do and you really can't mess it up. Just keep the heat away from the paint (You're doing something wrong if you're near the fender anyway).

I'm doing this soon. I wonder if the stock bracket can be modified instead of buying the GT2 part.

Great to note, never really looked inspected the liner.
Must have been the brackets that I was thinking about regarding the clearance.

The only difference on the GT2 liners is that Porsche drilled a hole in the side of the liner to accept the screw for the shorter GT2 bracket. The GT2 liner has the TT part number molded into the plastic with a GT2 part number sticker placed over it. Rob, take a look at the back of your GT2 liner and you will see the TT part number. I found all this out when I ordered new "GT2" liners from Germany since none were in stock in the US at the time, and discovered in the process that the GT2 and TT liners are one and the same. If you can drill a hole into your TT liner, you have just created a GT2 liner. The GT2 side bracket is the key to create more room as it replaces the longer TT bracket which takes up about 1/2" of room at the base of the intercooler hose. I still heated up the GT2 liner to maximize room for the larger 26.5" rears tires I run..

It can not. I looked at that. The GT2 brackets are not that expensive. About $150 for both if I recall..
