2004 Turbo Cab Value? low miles
Spoke to a guy about his 996TT cab and he is thinking of selling it. I have not seen any photos yet but here are the stats.
2nd owner
He bought it in 2005 from Beverly Hills Porsche with 1,700 miles
177k MSRP (loaded with options at that price)
X50
Black ext / red & black interior
GT2 Front end (not sure if he did this or it was already installed)
PCCB's
8,000 current miles
He just did the 10 year service and put new tires on it.
I just sent him a text to ask for photos and if it is a 6-speed or tip.
Car is in the Cincinnati, OH area.
Thoughts? can he get 65k or is that 997 Turbo territory?

$65k might be a bit ambitious but I'd love if he could get it. I have a non X50 TT cab with more miles that I'd want around $51-52k for, so he might not be far off. Seems like it's optioned up quite a bit. A lot depends on tranny, color, accident history, etc. I don't think you can get a no-stories 997 TT cab for anywhere near $65k, can you?

No, I was just thinking that 2007 997 Turbo coupe prices would also push this down. Some shoppers just want a 911 turbo and the coupe / cab choice can swap depending on the car.
The color is black but I am not sure if it is Basalt Black or not. The GT2 front end had me asking about accident history as well.

An Options list ( and proper documentation ) can get this 996Turbo close to $60K, IMO. A GT2 bumper on an otherwise unmolested low-mile car will draw inquiries... how well was the install done, AND is a prospective buyer going to pay a premium on a 996 Turbo for this mod?
Get a DME and over-rev history. Misplacedyankee picked up a similar car over a year ago. IIRC, he paid less than $65K.
997 Turbo coupes on frequented car sales sites are hovering in the mid to low $60's. buyer beware.
The better Turbos are usually found with private sales and no stories.

Just bought an 04 turbo cab and I looked at 997as well. Wholesale on the 997 are low 70's I think. Hard to find any good ones in the mid 70's A lot are going for 80's. First year was 08. I was only looking for a cab, and I think that's not uncommon, so I don't see your point about a coup being a substitute is valid for all.
I looked at a clean of 05 turbo s with 17k miles, highly optioned and he was firm at 65.
I've seen them in the 70's plus even 80 with under 10k miles. (996 turbo cabs). Super low mileage cars seen to get or at least ask for a very big premium.
If I were the buyer I'd hold out for 65.
But for me as a buyer, 65 was too much for a 10 year old car. I ended up getting one with higher miles but completely built way beyond turbo s with a full gt2 body kit for a lot less. To me these cars are excellent deals in the 45-55 range. At 65 I'd probably go with a 997 which if you get lucky, you can get a good car for mid 70's. Could have gotten an 08 with 15 k miles with 25 in upgrades for 73, but it was a ford dealer and they wholesaler the car.

Just called him up and spoke to him about the car.
The GT2 front end was installed by the Beverly hills Porsche dealer for the first owner. it was done when new. No accidents.
He is in Cincinnati but the car is located in FL. it was serviced at the Sarasota Porsche dealer last for it's 10 year service and new tires. (total bill was about 5k)
He is getting me photos of the car that I will upload to this thread later.

as rickjaffe points out, it is a 10 year old car. It does sound cherry, but is it worth the premium to you, or someone else?
The GT2 front bumper conversion requires quite a bit of plastic bits and ductwork/brackets that are different than a stock Turbo bumper. It would be prudent to get someone you have confidence in to look at the GT2 conversion and report back.
I haven't read up on the 1st Gen PCCB's and any issues, but it seems more admirers like the 2nd Gen ones.
if a buyer is serious, put down a deposit pending:
PPI, paint meter, DME, over-rev report, test drive. ALL manuals, both keys with working remotes and possibly the valet key ( as a bonus) , any maintenance history from the dealer database. check airfares.

you can get a hi miles 997.1t in the 60's by now, and much cleaner lower miles examples still in the mid 70's. it's one of the few that i wouldn't rule out simply because of the higher miles, as the mezger gt1 motor ( same as ours ) is no joke.

first year what?! 997.1tt was available in 06-08 and many favor it as tt's go, for being one of the last of the gt1 derived mezger motors. though the 997.2 is nothing to sneeze at it is a different (3.8) motor.

I just bought my 2004 Turbo Cab with 6 speed and 57,000 miles for $39,900 in Atlanta in January. The car is like new inside and out. It has the power memory seats with power lumbar on both seats. It also has the nav as well as an upscale stereo system with video display, sirius radio and a large amp in the front storage area. The car came with some very nice wheels and brand new Michelin tires. I am the third owner and am grateful the first two took such good car of the car.
I think I got a better than average deal since the other cars I was looking at were closer to the $50K price and condition was not as good as this one. My only downside is it came with only one key and that key would not actuate the remote lock/unlock so I opted to have a new electronic module installed and programmed at a cost of almost $300 from the dealer.
You stated the price of the TT cab at 177K which is correct for a brand new 2014. However, the 2004 models were around $127K when sold in their day from what I could find out. I like the cab since the top is so good at keeping road noise out and sealing out the weather. Styling wise, the coupe is nicer looking in its fluid and flowing lines.
I saw some 997TT that were priced just a shade higher than the 996TT but none that were "cherry" in condition so it's really hard to compare. Is a rough 2008 997TT worth more or less than a cherry 2004 or 2005 996TT ? I don't know but the guys on this forum likely do since they've been at it for a while. I'm too new to offer much value on values.

Melb-Mike stole his car - that's $10k below market. Good for him, but I wouldn't expect to find many in good condition at that price.
BTW - the sticker on my 04 TT cab was $137k, and you could option them up as high as you wanted, so $177k isn't out of the question. Crazy but reachable.

Mine is same spec and was 172k sticker and I got it a year and a half ago for 57k with 9k miles and a fidelity platinum warranty good till 60k and 5/2016. Mine was mint with all records 2 owner.
If I was to sell mine I would expect mid 50s. North of 60k would be high in my view. 55-60k more the range.
