Default Help with Rim Sizes for 996 Turbo

Hello Rennlisters,

I currently have a 996 Turbo, I will attach a picture when I figure out how to host one.

My car has chrome hollow twist wheels on it now, and the chrome is kind of emberassing, so I have saved up some money and want to replace the rims, and keep my tires to reduce expenses.

My turbo is not as nice as many of yours, it is just a daily driver, and I love to drive it. My husband does all the maintenance on it and it is really the best car one could ever own...except for maybe a GT2 or (as he says) a 993 C2s. When I smoke him at a stop light he doesn't say much about how great his C2s is for a while

So these are the rims I am thinking of ordering. I have read almost everything I can about offsets and sizes, so I think this is what I am going to go with.

Would you please look at the sizing below and let me know if this is OK before I order them?

Victor Equipment Innsbruck
Rear: 18X11 5-130 Offset: 36 in Silver with Machined Face
Front: 18X8 5-130 Offset: 45 in Silver with Machined Face

Thank you,

Sara

You shouldn't have any issues with those widths/offsets. Are you sticking with stock tire sizes?

thank you for having the good taste to know that chrome twists are an abomination lol

i agree those sizes are fine and the victor wheel while comparitively heavy, ( someone once called them boat anchors! lol ) is made for the car and innsbruck will be a good looking choice. i have a similar looking wheel in a forgestar. also, you'll be able to run a slightly wider rear (315/30) if you choose with that offset without issue.

You won't have any trouble.
I also have the Victor Equipment Innsbruck (Black) in 19's rather than 18's with the same offsets. My car is lowered with H&R springs and I have no issues/rubbing, etc.

I had a set of 18s on a Boxster S that I sold last summer. The only thing I would caution is that the "diamond cut" or whatever they call it finish on them is still kinda shiny -- more than I really prefer. I wouldn't have bought them again.

Funny enough, my Turbo came with 19" Victor Turismos. I've removed them and replaced with 18" OEM SportTechnos. I've got to get them photo'd so I can get them on eBay soon.

Thank you for the replies, I will have to double check on the shiny factor for the diamond cut face of the spokes.

Unless the rim is clear coated (more learnings from searching ) can't I just knock down some of the shine on the face with a brillo or rubbing compound?

Not sure what tires you will run, but I bought 9" front rims to let me run 265/35 or 245/40 tires- either will work...and on the back I have 315/30 on 11.5" rims.

Just something to think about.

Probably not what you want to do, but in case you want to go the low cost route, I have two front chrome wheels in excellent condition with tires I'll let go for cheap if you are in SoCal.
