Just ordered Kevins tune and data logger.
Had a very lengthy conversation with him, he seems like a very nice and honest person who knows his stuff.
Cant wait for my tune.

You can't really go wrong with Kevin's UMW tune, and that datalogger provides excellent peace of mind. Get ready to fall in love with your Turbo all over again.

Thanks 996tnz, I'm guessing you have his tune as well.
Everyone seems to be extremely happy with his products and customer service.
He had all the time in the world when I was on the phone with him, he really seems like a top fellow.

Kevin's set up is awesome. The tune, and then stage 2. Couldn't be more happy!

Kevin is the man! Just finished my ECU tune less than an hour ago. I have an X50 and couldn't believe the power increase!! I thought it was the fastest car I've even been in before tonight. Now it definitely is!!!

Kevin is the 996TT guru. Talk to him before doing anything else with another company. Doesn't hurt to get another opinion.

Just installed his flash tune ......OMG the car now is just ballistic, scary fast.
Power come on much earlier now but with lots more and I mean lot more power to the point where I think I have to re adjust my driving style.

My computer skills isn't very good but l got through it with a lot of help from Kevin, he has got a lot patience that's for sure.

I have run my car for two years now with Kevins flash. Better for daily driving now. Engine character is more refined, response better, no issues whatsoever. Power and torque increase is huge. I live on the other side of the globe, distance was not an issue when making the tune. Changed plugs, O2 sensors and MAF according to his recommendation before the tune.

I did easily 195mph last summer on a road trip to Germany. The speed was measured by Garmin GPS. No other performance upgrades, just the tune.

Running a 996TT without a proper tune is wasting a good car.

Haha. PM me and I'll share the route I recently took. I'm happy but my wallet was pissed.

On topic, +1 for UMW's flash

Dealing with a couple of shops in the northeast have left me a bit skeptical, but at least here in NC I trust our local dealer (Leith Porsche), and can’t imagine them giving a biased PPI.

Maybe I’m naive but I ran a repair shop here for a couple of years, and couldn’t imagine not pointing out anything in a PPI because a current customer was selling his car. That’s not only unethical but it doesn’t make business sense. I wouldn’t want to put my name on a botched PPI in either case.

Kevin
I will be joining Porsche Forum Australia on a 4 day drive.
There is a distance of 370km that will not have 98 octane fuel available. This part of the driving leg is VERY demanding and fuel thirsty. Elevations are up to 1490mt. We are able to access 95 octane only at the 250 km point.
As you are aware I have your flash tune. Is it safe to use an octane booster additive with 95octane fuel.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your email Kevin.
I have decided to take a 20litre fuel container with me in the trunk.

Thanks for your concern.

Certified to Australian Standard AS2906:2001 and the 20L Metal Jerry cans have also passed stringent Defence Force testing.
  • Prevents the detonation of flammable liquids and gases in containers
  • Limits and delays spread of fire
  • Has no life limit. This means reliable permanent safety and protection
  • Only displaces approximately 1% to 3% of the total volume of the can
  • Has no effect on the flow rate of fuel
  • Reduces evaporation of fuel by 60% at 100°F (37.8°C)
  • Is indifferent to non-polar chemical compounds
  • Does not affect the physio-chemical properties of the fuel or the container
  • Is lightweight, therefore does not increase the weight of a metal jerry can by a significant amount.
