I don't know whether to feel happy or disappointed after watching 'Carrera Invasion' on YouTube. There it was pitching the 997.1S against the 996TT amongst others. I thought the TT would simply run away but apparently not! And a manual TT at that. I guess I won't be swapping my 997S for a 996TT tip so quickly, then.

You win some, you lose some, you should feel happy, the 997S won a race it shouldn't have. It should have been a good battle between the NSX with superior handling and the 996TT with superior power (had it lasted). I would say something was wrong with that 996TT beyond it not being an X50 as the the 996TT visibly lost power toward the end. Prior to that the 996TT was pulling away hard from the Modena and NSX on the straights and making ground on the 997S as well .....once the 997 Carrera was out of the way. The 996TT driver even commented when the NSX came around "I don't know why you're coming around, I'm just going to pass you again" If they didn't have to contend with the 997 Carrera and the 996TT didn't blow it's lid, It would have been a lot different. The NSX, 996TT, and Modena would have been in front of the 997S, especially with the 997S' tires getting all greasy toward the end.

Thats a joke cause I don't see even 997.2 gt3 giving my tt any worry. 997.1S didn't have any more then 2 car lengths on my 996 C4S. My tt will blow away my 996 C4S.

The NSX is an NSX-R - which is very different than a regular NSX (no NSX-Rs in North America).

I love white turbos! Those videos are mainly for entertainment - I wouldnt put too much weight in the outcome.

Well, if there's one thing I know for sure, it is that all of life's major decisions should be based on a video I saw once on Youtube. Before buying a house, for example, I always try to think about which house would be best for a bunch of kittens making funny faces.

I did the same thing and have never looked back. The 996tt is the last , imho, of the raw feeling p cars.

Might your TT be flashed? We all know the phenomenal potentials of the TT. I believe the video was on perfectly stock cars.

It is but even stock it will kill a plain 997.1S. That car probably had turbo leak and it's still faster. Like I said my 996 C4S is 320 hp and a 997.1S doesn't pull away at anything but a snails pace where a stock 996 tt will.

All I have to say is, "wow."

The 996 Turbo arrived earlier this week. I'm blown away. I'll get to the engine in a minute, because that's the obvious thing, but I love everything about this car. The interior is much nicer than my 997, which looks sort of plastic by comparison. Yes, I'll need to upgrade the stereo (and I have an appointment on Monday) but beyond that, I feel like everything feels more solid, like it's made from higher quality materials that are bolted together better. The key seems to turn quicker, the tiptronic shifter (I'm married) feels smaller and more purposeful. The leather still smells brand new and there isn't a blemish on it. It feels like a $130,000 car, other than the dated stereo.

And, oh yeah, the engine. I've only driven 7 or 8 miles, but oh man, what a great 7 or 8 miles. I test drove a nice CPO 997 TT, and I have to say, it didn't feel any more powerful. If anything, it felt less sporty, and more cushy.

This isn't a complete review, more of an introduction, but I could not be happier so far.

I did mine a week ago. What a huge difference new stereo makes. Makes a big difference in bringing the car up to date. I don't see any reason to switch to a 997 after tuning my 996TT. Car is just plain solid.

Many thanks, all. I cannot wait to log some miles on this thing. At 10,000 years and 28,000 miles, it's still basically in the wrapper

Congrats - gorgeous car. It's so much fun to get on boost, isn't it?

By the way - how did you get a 10,000 year old Porsche? That has to qualify for antique plates!

Oh, it's not that hard. Just drink a few beers before typing.
