Finally got my car back from the body shop! Here are some quick pics I just took. I will try to take some pics at a more scenic spot.

Bumperettes and rear wiper removed. Precision Porsche Strosek style wing. The shop owner and I decided to leave the turbo badge off. I have the grey "Turbo S" from suncoast. It's smaller than the chrome badge. I'm still back and forth about it.


DPE s20 19x11.5 on Michelin Pilot Super Sport 305/30/19. 4 in lip I know the rusted wheel bolts have to go! I ordered a set of black Porsche wheel bolts which I hope can be installed this Friday along with my 997 gt3 shifter!

The front looks so plain compared to the back. My next exterior project would have to be a gt2 front end conversion. I would go with a used oem unit and also go with carbon fiber fenders. The stock fenders are ridiculously heavy! I sent an email to Getty Design and they say they have one in the works where it's 1" wider and compatible with the oem bumpers.

Awesome work!

I am looking to clean up my artic silver turbo by eliminating the wiper and bumperettes too. I talked to a shop recently about it and they were not comfortable filling such large holes in the bumper. They said it would never last or wouldn't turn out well. I may just try and find a used euro spec to repaint. Any issues with yours? It looks pretty good to me. Also, did the rear glass have to be removed to weld the wiper hole? Or just the outer seal to repaint the area?

My rear bumper is fine so far. My bodyshop was also concerned about filling in such big holes. If anything happens, the rear bumper along with the entire respray has a lifetime guarantee from the bodyshop. I haven't seen a thread where a euro converted rear bumper has failed.

There are some members who sell there converted bumpers from time to time. One member quoted me $800. If you want a real euro bumper, you can try ebay.co.uk.

My rear glass was removed only because it was a complete respray. Your shop may be able to get away with painting the welded area without removing the glass.

I will keep my eyes open for a euro bumper and try that route unless I can find a shop thats comfortable doing it like yours.

Their main concern with the wiper hole is that the welding may cause too much heat that close to the window and damage it if it is not removed. Not sure if thats true or not. Seems like they are being super cautious which is understandable but i would rather not pay to have all that extra time spent. Maybe a painted plug is the way to go?

For some reason, the shop did the weld with the glass on. I'd be more worried about the rubber glass molding melting. Then again, because I had a complete respray, all the rubber moldings were replaced.

Without paint, to remove the wiper and weld in the hole cost me $300. A painted plug works too. All depends on how far you're willing to go. There was one member who had his sunroof replaced with a fixed roof to shed weight. The roof and the headliner alone were well over 2k. I decided not to do it even though my project was a complete respray with all the glass out.

Thanks! I would like to change the front end but not anytime soon. It's either going to be a gt2 or Ruf front end.
