Quick price check needed
Guys,
I came across a nice 03 coupe with the factory areo kit (GT2) style and the X50. I would scoop it up, but it has 55K miles and the dealer wants full retail+ . What is something like this worth? I am on the fence. I would just pass but I love the GT tail.
Thanks!

factory aero kit? nice. gt2 decklid on a turbo coupe is aftermarket so worth less.
but x50 w factory aero kit and 55k miles. don't know what dealers are asking any more but from a PP i'd say that was a solid 45k+car give or take and would be a good deal at that. a bit more at a dealer maybe.

For a quick and dirty -- and valid I can't say -- number or range of numbers run the car's particulars through the value determination feature at KBB, NADA and any other similar sites and see what trade in is for the car. That's your starting point. How much over this you pay is between you and the seller.
Do a search on www.autotrader.com or www.cars.com (I think that's the right web address) and see how many GT2's, GT3's, and Turbo's are around. Check prices on not only the 996 model but the 997 models too. While an owner of a GT2 may point out it is not a GT3, and both agree their car is not a Turbo, and vice versa, I'd go in with the attitude I'm looking for the best car of that group of cars to help (I hope) drive the price down some. Whether it would work or not I do not know. But it gives you more cars to rattle off when you are at the dealer looking at this car and lets the dealer know -- if you do it right -- that if he sees you walk off the lot he's lost a sale 'cause you're going to buy one of the other cars.
Of course, even if you would not be caught dead in a GT3 or any other car but the one you have your eyes on do not let the dealer know that.
Be sure the aerokit was not put on during an accident repair.
(On this accident note put the VIN in a google search and see what turns up. Maybe the car was for sale elsewhere for more (or less) money? Maybe it has been for sale for a while and that might be a clue there's something wrong with the car. Just saying you have to use every means at your disposal to try to learn as much about the car as possible so you can make the right decision.)
Be sure you kick the tires and light the fires. The car you are looking at is just a used car.
Remember too, there's always another car.

Thanks for the help.
I bought it ! I couldn't help myself. The interior is spotless. Also my color, and the seats I like. The leather looks, feels and smells like a one year old car. No Armorall ever! Not a scratch, and has the EM clear stuff protecting the front. Eventhough there were others with 15 to 30K miles, this car looked better in and out. The rear lid, x50 and areo kit all came on the car when it was new at my local dealer. The paint and body are 100%. I paid retail, but I really don't think I could find one this perfect and added the stuff it has for less. I really like the rear spoiler. I will post a pic soon.
Thanks

At the dealer...
Factory areo package, X50, leather upgrade, nav, stainless, manual, recent tires.
.... paid 50. There was another buyer lurking which really threw my deal making off. Dealer came down 5K, but I really dont think coupes are bringing 55 they wanted. Sales manager made a really big deal about the power package, but to be honest I'm not even sure what that is comprised of. Can any one tell me what I just bought? Is that really a 17K option?

X50 -- Power Enhancement Kit
Following is the announcement made in PCNA's Press Kit:
"The 911 Turbo adds an optional engine enhancement performance package that increases horsepower to 450 (331 kW) @ 5,700 rpm and sustains 457 lb.-ft (620 Nm) of peak torque from 3,500 - 4,500 rpm. The new package includes modifications to the turbo charger, air intake cooler, electronic control unit, exhaust system and a strengthened transmission. This option cannot be retrofitted to the standard 2001 and 2002 911 Turbo."
MSRP for option X50 is US$17,700, CAD$24,400.
This option is available in limited supply.
X50 adds GT2/GT3 oil pump, larger intercoolers from GT2 (12% more efficient, but standard Turbo intercoolers were temp tested by me and quite good as well), Turbos from GT2 (K24), strengthened transmission. ECU mapping is nearly identical to GT2- difference is 0.1-0.2 bar less boost. Turbo S is X50 + PCCB.
U.S . automobile magazines have documented acceleration time showing the X50 faster than the Gallardo at all checkpoints
.............0-60.......0-100 .......1/4mi........Trap
X50 .........3.7......... 8.8......... 11.7........120
Gallardo ....4.1......... 9.2..........12.4........118
