Default Headlight polishing.

I finally gave up looking for the special UV coating and paid someone else to do the job.

Before, not so bad.

For the UV protection step of the repair process, I used a mixture of Helmsman Spar Urethane and alcohol applied with a blue shop towel. At the cost of these headlights it's probably better to pay a professional to repair, unless you want the satisfaction of doing them yourself. I don't think it's worth the gamble for money saved.

Total cost was USD 150 and comes with a 3 yr guarantee. I was tempted to try it myself but don't have access to the brands of UV coatings mentioned in the forum. That plus I figure its a skill I'm unlikely to need again so the effort and risk reward just ain't there.

It is a lot quicker to take the lights out than tape up around them. I did mine a couple years ago and they look like crap again. Next time i am getting somebody else to do them.

And once you have the headlight out you can remove the washer nozzle. I found the best way to apply 20 psi of shop air to the water inlet at the rear of the headlight assy. Nozzle will then extend out for unclipping.

If you wet sand or wash the headlight with tap water be careful not to get any inside the light. There are at least two air vent holes that water can enter.

Tap water inside the light will leave spots and hard to remove.

After reading where other members lost part of their nozzles when using them while driving, I disabled mine by removing the fuse to the headlight washer pump. Maybe it's where I live but I have never needed headlight washers.
