Default Time for new shoes

It will be time for new tires in another couple of 1000 miles. I'm thinking about going with GT2 sizes since the price of turbo and Gt2 PS2's are the same at tire rack.

Any clearance issues with the larger sizes on a TT with X73? I know I'll have probably have to lose the spacers.

I am not in a hurry either, but also in the process of getting GT2 sizes (315/30 and 235/40) mounted on some extra wheels. The rears are 11.5, so that should "absorb" some of the extra height of the tire. I also have X73, and the thought also crossed my mind if the clearances are there. I have 5mm spacers, so it's pretty negligible on the edge of the fender.
We'll see who gets around to it first....
Meanwhile, my rear EVO's have about the same life left . I was thinking of getting 295/30 replacements just in case I have to switch back to the Technos. The fronts are still 70-75% tread

I have GT2 size PS2s on GT2 wheels, no rubbing.

I did read somewhere that lowered you might have to roll the fenders. I say do it and deal with rolling later if needed.

not worth putting 315's on stock 11" wheels, any small gain in grip is lost in sidewall 'sway' and reduced driver confidence, a pulled sidewalll is nice to have, get 12's if you want the 315's

Angelus, do you have 11" or 12" wide rear wheels? And what brand tires ?

According to Michellin, the measuring rim widths for the GT2 sizes are 8.5" and 11". The recommended rim widths are 8"-9.5" and 10.5"-11.5".

996 GT2's all use 8.5" front, 12" rears as factory

315's on 11" wheel are within design limit, but the feel will be different than on 12" wheels, slower to respond and will have less feeling

Understand, but according to the tire manufacturer, 11" rims are ideal for these tires. Not starting a who is smarter, Porsche or Michelin debate. I don't care.

These aren't going on a track car. If they aren't going to cause me any problems, I'd rather have the bigger tire. It does not appear that rim width is an actual issue.

To be honest, mostly for aesthetics. Although the bigger contact patch can't hurt and the larger diameter will take out some of the 3 mph speedo error, which I find annoying. Maybe improve the ride slightly as well.

The prices are identical so as long as there are no clearance issues, why not?

As for the bigger contact patch, do you find that the OEM tires are not adequate for street driving in terms of acceleration and/or cornering grip?

There is no question that X73 is stiff, and I'm not sure you'll get much relief from that through tire size selection.

I just had the gt2 size PS2 on my 04 Euro spec turbo.
I am about to go back to turbo sizes as I did not like the balloning sidwall particually on the rear.
1 it looked ugly
2 it moved slightly under load

the benifit was slightly better traction on exit.

I am thinking about putting the Super sports on the front and PS2 on the rear in turbo sizes

Possibly, the only drawback to 315's would be that road imperfections ( transitions, road repairs, etc) would be felt a bit more, but the 295's already are quite wide as is...

A new set of 295's on the Techno 11" wheel look good; as the 295's have worn , they don't look so good and are quite possibly a smaller diameter than the fronts...

If I have some time this week, I'll get my 315 PS2's mounted on the 11.5 TRM F2's and post a pic.
