New Owner -- Long Time Coming
Although I've been part of Rennlist for more than 8 years now, this is my first Porsche. I joined as a freshman in college knowing that a 996TT was my "someday car"...today was the day.
You may have seen my threads looking for a car and it was my thread here that led me to the car. A RL member (from TX) emailed to say he was debating trading his car for a Gallardo and would be willing to sell for the right price. After some negotiating, he went dark and the next day I saw the car listed at Lamborghini of Dallas as he had decided to trade-in after all. I worked with John and Louie there (really good guys...can't say enough good things about them) to seal the deal. I had the PPI setup at RUF Auto Center in Dallas where it passed with flying colors and needing almost nothing (Hans at RAC was easy to work with and very thorough)...though John made sure Boardwalk Porsche corrected the few things it did need.
On to the details:
- 2003 996TT with 42k miles.
- Milltek Exhaust
- GIAC Tune (and handheld flashloader)
- Fabspeed Headers
- Turbo S/GT3 Wheels
Car also came with the stock exhaust, stock twists which were just refinished in GT silver (perfect condition), 40k service just done, brand new tires (0 miles), and a stack of records dating back to 2006!
I've driven a stock '02 996TT on a number of occasions and this car is a different animal with the tune and exhaust. Complete monster.
I purchased the car on Thursday of last week, the car was picked up by Jason @ American Auto Transport - 631-834-7950 (highly recommended for enclosed transport nationwide...super careful and I received Iphone Map updates each day with his progress) and delivered this afternoon:
Only planned mod is to swap out the amber turn signals and call it done. Due to my driveway angle/slope, stock height is all I can get away with!

Thanks all!
I did have a concrete guy come out and take a look, but it would require HOA approval to get the desired grade as I would need to extend onto the apron by 16" (not into the actual paved street...but close).
Next time I buy, it will be with a 3+ car garage, Kansas-Flat driveway, without an HOA.
Its our first house and I made sure the M3 would fit...didn't really count on having the 996TT to contend with.

Even a picture would be deceiving. The true issue is about 5' into the driveway. My driveway (and entire community's driveways) are aggregate slab construction. So I have 4-5 slabs that make up my driveway. The first slab is nearly flat, but the angle at which the first meets the second is pretty severe. The stock turbo lip clears just fine with proper angle, but the exhaust can drag ever so lightly. My M3 is substantially lower than the turbo (on coilovers), yet because the front bumper overhang (extending beyond the front wheels) is far less severe, it works just fine. The turbo nose hangs a good 10-12 out past that of the M3 nose!

Nice car and congratulations. I am likely in the minority here, but I actually like the look of the stock ride height. My 993tt was lowered and looked good, but for some reason I like the 996 as is.
