Default CAE SHIFTERS IN STOCK STATESIDE!!!!!

Cae Ultra shifters are compatible with 996, 997, Cayman, and Boxster.

CAE Shifters are available in 2 Choices:
10013st: hich is for cars in which you would like to keep your center console.

10014: Which is for cars with no interior.

Shifter for use with the original Porsche gearshift cables (not included in delivery). Included in delivery: gearshift lug completely pre-assembled, connecting parts for the original gearshift cables, installation instructions. This shifter is supplied in blank brushed aluminium. Short and super-precise shifting travel, exclusively H-pattern and suitable for 4-, 5- and 6-gear transmissions. The coupling system remains in its original form. Racing-style appearance. All shifters are characterised by their optimal ergonomics with a focus on motor sports: perfect positioning of the shift lever close to the steering wheel. The shift pattern for all shifters is confined to approx. 70x70 mm. Activation of the reverse gear lock via cable reel from the shift lever. An accidental changing to the reverse gear is impossible. The reverse gear is unlocked by pulling up the sliding collar on the shift lever. (Only if the transmission has no integrated lock.) Low weight and high stability: the milled and lathed parts consist of 7075 aluminium alloy; the substructures are made out of laser-cut, 3mm thick AlMg3 aluminium. The parts are combined in the WIG welding process and brushed blank for an optimal finish. Problem-free shifting of gears under stress or in curves. Integrated centre position spring, ensuring perfect feedback when changing columns while shifting up and down. Right/left stops and reverse gear stop adjustable separately. Simple installation through complete conversion kit: All systems are delivered with all small parts, fastening material and detailed installation instructions.

Be nice if that same setup would be as low as the stock and fit in the console with the boot.

I agree with Dock. This is too hard core for me. If I understand correctly the goal is short, precise throws, and position very close to hands on steering wheel. With the industrial look, in spades, it is much different than the elegant stock shifter. Just my opinion.

Kind of defeats the purpose, but I can put a request in with the factory.

I like it. What is the install time? First time good mechanic?

Not committing: just curious.

Can one put any **** on it?

Thanks for sharing!

Yes indeed; hard core and industrial are two perfect descriptions.

It might be great for a dedicated race car, but my Turbo isn't a dedicated race car. My B&M shifter, along with the OEM shift ****, elevates the shifting experience to a level that I think should have been standard in the 996 Turbo, while maintaining a classy look.

No worries!

Yes these are pretty easy to install.
The ***** are weighted and specific for the shifter so It would not be a good idea to swap *****.

You are correct! I think a CAE would look out of place in a bone stock 996tt but one with some modifications it will look right at home.

Bone stock referring to the interior?

WOW thats awesome! I love the seats! Good work! I think a black anodized 10013st (center console version) would look great! There is no hidden cost shifter mounts in and needs no other parts.

Do you have any pictures of the exact center console's changes on a 996? If it is just the boot being removed..that is great.

Is there an objective review out there?

Jeff

update: love it. Supremely smooth and seriously precise. I am not getting a penny to say this (in fact, I gave up full retail). The 996 lacks a formal instruction manual, so the mechanic had to do it on his own. He clearly did a great job. Not for everyone, but I actually really like the look. Console used was from a dismantler...dyed it.

Not for everyone. For me, I love the functional uber street car it has become. Commutes as well as it does DE. Amazing car.
