IIRC, there was an option to let them use your current (stock) exhaust, to allow for a lower out of pocket cost....$2000 comes to mind.

RUF will NOT modify your exhaust. The only sell theirs as a quad tip 100 cell exhaust at around $5K. Carnewal (Gert) sells a reworked OEM exhaust what they call a "GT" exhaust on an exchange basis for about $2K.

I'll throw a spear into this fight...using new parts & doing my own labor, my 996TT was cheaper to crack the (relatively) safe 600rwhp mark on 100 oct than my MKIV Supra.

Supra:
Non knock-off turbo kit: $3500
Exhaust: $1000
Clutch: $700
VPC/GCC: $750
Injectors/rail/FPR: $700
2nd Fuel pump & lines : $400
Non knock-off FMIC: $1600
EBC: $300

Total: $8950

996TT:
Magic (Blouch) K16s w/gates: $1500
Inlet pipes: $400
Clutch $1500
Injectors: $400
997.2 Intercoolers: $1000 (better than 90% of the aftermarket, w00t!)
Flash: $1500
EBC: $300
Exhaust: $2000

Total: $8600

Both can play the used parts game. The killer on the Supra was going single turbo with the fuel system & my 996 crushes it as a street tire DD. Don't buy the 800whp on a stock block hype, BTDT. They can do it for relatively short pulls, just like 996's, but they'll eat stock rods, just like us. Of course if you hurt something important, things go in favor of the Supra quickly.

Edit: NOT trying to turn this into a Supra v 996TT match, just sharing experience from owning and "lightly" modding both.

997.2 intercoolers better then 90% of the aftermarket, got proof of that. Does that include all the guys who use them and blow off the end tanks from them...sorry I want to toss spears
600 rwhp= 18g turbos(1500)+ injectors(450)+ pump(700)+ exhaust(2k)+ clutch(1200) + flash(1600)= 530 awhp on 93 octane and 600awhp on ms 109

Porsche HP cost a lot...

I'm learning it.

Coming from a cheap import making insane amount of power for peanuts.

you have to know what to ad and have the proper tune+ fuel and you're gold but yes it's more then evo hp or etc. At the same time 500awhp/rwhp will destroy a 500awhp evo or supra simple cuz of gearing and aero. Porsche!

Thanks Earl! Now THAT is some good solid info for me to mull over. Thanks again!

Cheers
