New 996tt owner!
hey guys, just purchased an 03 996tt with 14k miles on it and am looking to turn it into a track beast. Absolutely love the car and was wondering what you guys think would be a good mod to start off with?
Glad to be part of the club!

Comgrats and welcome. Besides driving school, start with seats, suspension and brakes. That said, the TT isn't the best choice for a "track beast". It can be competent, but if you really want a track car you need to remove the AWD.
Too many other mods to name in converting it to a track car. I'm not sure why you would want to convert a 14k mile TT into a track car, but it can be done.

Maybe it would be best to define what you mean by "track beast" so we can provide accurate suggestions. Are you talking stripped out interior, roll cage, etc. or just making it a more capable DE car?

I really wasn't kidding about driving school
I have done the buy TT, mod TT (alot), get dedicated track car, mod dedicated track car thing, get trailer, get enclosed trailer, get diesel truck to pull same.
so start with driving scholl
then saftey, including HANS device - without which I would not be writing this
then suspension
then power
there are details under each category of course
these cars do need some track time - for you and the car, but really cannot be turned into a track beast without destroying their ability to be an incredible DD
I'm trying to save you A LOT of money

I recently purchased a lower miles '03 TT from a buddy which I had intended to re-sell. But after driving the car for awhile, I instead sold my newer Carrera S which had been a fairly competent, fun DE/track car.
Truthfully, I have come to view the TT as too nice to track. It is much heavier, more "luxurious" feeling, 4-wheel drive, etc. So while enjoying putting the pedal down often, I can't see driving it to the edge on the track.
Are other TT owners DEing/tracking their cars?? Just curious.
