Very odd dealer experience currie ford
I emailed Currie Ford in IL about a red 911 turbo ( WP0AB29951S685436 ) they had and of course 10 mins later I get a phone call from one of their sales representatives and let her leave a voicemail. I call her back at lunch (very nice lady) and she tells me straight up I'm going to transfer you to my manager because he knows more about the car. A man named Dan answers the phone and starts telling me very little about the car. I ask how they got it because it seems odd a Ford dealer would have such a car. He begins to tell me the area they are in is very rich and it's actually very common for them to get trades like this. Ok fair enough I'm thinking. So to make a long story short I ask them if they can fax the service history and than I ask if they would have a problem if I got the car inspected at a dealer of my choosing...(this is where it gets odd) Dan responds by saying "yes, they would have a problem with me getting the car inspected but I'm more than welcome to have a mechanic come there." Well i respond with "we have nothing further to discuss than, if I can't get the car inspected I'm not interested." he than proceeds to tell me "How he will not be dictated" but if I wanted the car inspected it will be on their terms. Out of all my years buying cars I have never had an issue with a dealer or private party letting me get the car inspected. Obviously after chatting with that dealer they were more interested in game playing than selling.
In closing... my guess is the car had some real issues that's why Dan went on the defensive. definitely buyer beware!!
PS: we had a storm so I do apologize for the typing as we are out on Internet service so this was typed from my phone.

The way you find cars like that at non-P/non-high end dealers is...owners.
Dealer principals (or upper management) will sell their personal toys through their store first. There may be other ways they get them, but trading a P turbo on any ford seems odd.
On the inspection issue, I've had this happen with some dealers...keep in mind this guy Dan is a dweeb selling Furd products, and probably felt threatened by you and your direct and buttoned down approach...so his tactic to try and reestablish the upper hand was to deny the inspection and lash out.
Oh well.
Tell you what, I'll reach out, act interested and hit him with the inspection thing on Monday. Figure we do that 4,5 times he will get the message?

I'm passing on this guys. If any of you want to buy it feel free but buyer beware! Its definitely a good price.
The guy I spoke to Dan told me the car was traded in by a high end client who had 5 other cars and needed more room in the garage..

Money talks,BS walks!

Yep usually is.. I'm just passing along the "story" I was told. I have zero tolerance for games but if someone here can tolerate that BS looks like a pretty decent deal if it checks out. The manager there Dan did tell me he had friends that "owned Porsche service shops" so if he does allow a PPI im guessing it can only be done at one of those shops... conflict of interest if you ask me!! LOL

The performance car equivalent of 'little old lady drove it to church' I guess....

I had a like experiance with Scottsdale Sports and Classic Motorcars. The owner of Scottsdale Sports said no problem inspecting the car prior to me flying out to buy it then when I set the PPI up at Scottsdale Porsche he said no way.
I also ran a CarFax on the car which showed an accident that required tow and the dealer did not disclose that, ad said clean carfax. When i challenged him on that he said the past owner hit a dog, no big deal. I think he was hiding something, especially since he would not allow a Porsche dealer that was 5 minutes away do a PPI.
Bottom line I ran from this car.

I looked at the dealer website and would comment that that's a pretty good looking car. Dealers can be pretty wierd sometimes about letting the cars out of their hands. There are a couple of options in getting it inspected - Kurt at Kurts German Auto in Homer Glen is about 15 minutes away from that dealership and can probably do an inspection at the dealer facility. I have used him for lots of service and can vouch for his work. Another is to contact Aaron at Rizza porsche in Orland Park - also about 15 minutes from Currie and ask if their shop can do a PPI. Many times dealers will have working relationships between themselves and will work to get a sale done, as opposed to turning the car over to an independent shop where they have no way to monitor what happens to their car.
I have bought and sold many cars through Aaron and can vouch for both him and Kurt as upstanding people. Contact me if you want further info. If the car has the right color etc and the price is good don't let some poorly informed car salesman trash a potentially good deal.

In fact, we were just killing time, waiting for our scheduled demo drive at the Maserati dealer, but the high end Jag was on our shopping list.
Needless to say, we were turned off. We pulled out of there (and I could have sworn that I saw the salesguy leave in a mid-80's Camero) and to kill more time, went into the Marin MB dealer. Saw a great car (AMG CL55) and bought it on the spot -- didn't even go back to the Maserati dealer.
I almost felt like driving to the store manager of the Jag dealer and telling him the story, and the result that we purchased a much more expensive car with cash after we were offended by his salesguy. I should've, really, but who's got the time?
