Great looking car! Black looks awesome on these beauties. As for red, my '04 is Carmon Red, a deep burgundy. Looks nice with high gloss black wheels, and slightly more subtle than the "please write me a ticket" red. :-)

I was thinking about having my OEM hollow spokes powercoated, not sure black would look as nice on my black car as they do on your Carmon Red car, but i think a darker (gun metal) silver finish would look pretty good. One of the prev. owners curbed the passenger side rear wheel pretty good and then someone tried to touch it up with some silver spray paint. Suprisingly it matches very well for a rattle can job. I just bought a set of 19" Roderick RW-5 (5-spoke wheels) on eBAY, figured once they arrive I could have the OEM wheels done up.

Hi Ben,
Congratulations on your new acquisition!
Wife and I (well, really me) are looking at 996TTs for our next purchase. Can't believe the Super Car bargains these are at the moment and what you get in terms of performance, style and technology for your money. Reminds me of the 928s in a way.
So what is your driving impressions between the 928 and 996TT?
Have fun,

Have fun,
I would say go for it, I'm loving it so far. One thing I'm worried about is maintenance on the 996TT, I.E. I was looking at the fuel filter location yesterday and it looks like you might need to be a spider monkey with 4 elbows on each arm to get at it. At this point I'm still in the honeymoon phase, newly-wed with the car so to speak. I really haven't learned how to "own" this car properly yet but I'm sure it will be fine, the key, just like the 928 is not deferring maintenance.
As far as comparison with the 928.... the 928 is still the car to take on long trips, in my opinion it's more comfortable at high speed, over long distances. You can't discount the 996TT performance though, and the acceleration is nothing short of violent. This car's performance is similar to my friend's sub-3000lb Imagine Auto tuned 930 (440 rwhp) But oddly, I'm now used to the boost and thinking I should tune it, slippery slope there. Oddly enough the 928 seems to get more attention from people of all ages, maybe because it's "arrest me red."

Hi Ben,
Thanks for the insights. Yes, deferred maintenance is a bad thing for all cars, especially expensive ones.
The 928 is a classic and its shape, as you well know, is alluring and holds up well to its newer cousins. When we had our 1989 928S4 daily driver we were always being asked about it, it was part of the great experience of its ownership.
Be careful with the mod$...!
