Ebay has a bunch of what appears to be B&M SSK knock offs. Has anyone tried one of these? If so, any issues? They can be had for like $50.

Agree with Kevin.
Had my tranny rebuilt and the 2nd gear issue mitigated before G-box had the 100$ fix gadget....kept my oem 996ssk (source is B&M I think) as that mechanic adjusted it "just right" and it is butter smooth. Up to that point in time I would have said the 996ssk is junk. The fact it is so hard to get right makes it less than ideal.
Everyone says the 997 parts are better. I could be wrong here, but I think there may be a gt3 part too...that may be the ssk one. Whichever...that one has more metal and will hold up to track use better. If I change, that is the one I'd get in a heartbeat.
Sunset or Suncoast sell OEM parts cheaply.
Dealers might match it. YMMV.
I'd avoid a knock off.

Yes, B&M built the 996 SSK. The B&M shifter and the Porsche 996 SSK are identical.
I'm having a friend at PCNA check right now to see if B&M also builds the 997 SSK.
I personally didn't find adjusting the cables properly a big deal when I installed my B&M shifter. It took a bit of time and it took some attention to detail, but it's wasn't a hard process.
