Default First Curb Rash

Did it up right too. All the way around the left rear rim.

Oh well. I now have an excuse to have my wheels painted.

Talking

I found my first one about 3/4" long on right rear on my year old black wheels. I swear someone did it with a file just to irritate me.

I think I know when it happened, but I swear I never felt anything. I try to remember that the rear wheels stick out further than the front and allow for it, but I guess I cut it too close this morning.

Parallel parking, backing into a parking space? I'm paranoid as hell about having this happen to my HREs, so I probably look like an idiot when parking half the time. I keep a close eye on my side mirror and will even sometimes open the passenger door to sneak a peek at how close I am to the curb while backing up.
I like my car all the more for being able to do this. I tried it in the Camry rental, but it was too wide for it to work.

In any case I feel your pain man because this stuff makes me crazy. Time for black wheels then? When I was at my wheel shop a while back they had a Zanzibar Red Turbo in with a GT2 body kit and black wheels on it. The only thing missing was that IMO the rear turbo badge should have been painted black to match (just would have made sense and looked mean). I'm not sure if this would be too much on silver, though.

Not black. It's too much of a contrast for me. I'm thinking about seal gray or a dark graphite.

My first set of hollow spokes (now track wheels) took a beating!!
That back right wheel just doesn't seem that close to the curb. I swear I scraped it 3x the first week I had the car. Now I think I'm about 5' (yes, feet) from the curb, then get out and see 10" tops. If I did that to an HRE I'd jump into traffic.

first time damage on virgin wheels is not a very good feeling. As long as it is superficial and the integrity of the wheel isn't compromised, wheel refinishers do great work these days, so you can pretty much dial in the right color to your liking. I have a spare set of wheels that I'd really like to get refinished in a graphite color ( saw a similar finish on some special edition (i.e. rice) Acura and Lexus),
but that's exactly what's stopping me from getting it done, catch 22.

I'm real happy with the Sport Technos; one of the lightest hollow spoke OEM 18's.

Anyone use the auto tilt-down feature on the right mirror to watch the curb?

Darren.
You can activate it by putting the car in reverse while you save a seat memory setting.

That's the same way I tagged my right rear wheel with a very small surface scrape; going forward.

The tilt function doesn't work when using a forward gear.

I think it's under the seat memory section.
