No offense to your friend but he deserved the ticket. When alarms start going off you are supposed to get down to the PSL, and turn the unit off to allow the LEO to get a lock. Then he's happy, you're happy, and everyone goes on their merry way.

Your friend was not using the jammer correctly. When hit with laser, slow down and mute the unit. It allows a correct reading after you are going an acceptable speed. No pulling ou to check on your device.

Speeding ticket amount depends on your speed. Your decision though of course.
