Default My new 2011 Monster 796

After some thinking I opted to go for a demo bike from a local dealer simply because this is my 1st bike and they were giving me a great deal.
2011 monster 796 w/abs full 2 year warranty and roadside assistance.
I'm happy to say that being a 1st time rider but a long time gear/motor head I have respect for the bike and didn't have any issues putting on 250 miles on her in 2 days.
The baby windscreen is just that, for show. I need something a little bit more functional so I don't feel like a kite above 70mph, and the 15t sprocket is awful for low rpm around town.
The seat is very comfortable but I do keep sliding forward and smashing up my boys so have to look into alternative as far as what I can do to prevent that. Other then that she sounds great stock, looks awesome as I already got a few complements from women and some teenagers. Overall I'm happy but I'll be seeing myself on a M1100 or streetfighter next season.

Great bike!
We have a few Ducs in the stable here, just sold my 999 to fund our future Multistrada. Maybe that would be a consideration for a future Duc to go alongside your Monster

I rode my first motorcycle legally at 15 1/2 when I got my license with a m/c endorsement. I bought my 7th GSXR for my 60th birthday a couple of years ago. I like to show the kids how to ride in the canyons, lol.

Don't worry about the small screen and the seat just yet. Anything on any bike will feel unnatural to you. I had a hot rod 1200cc Buell sans screen that buffeted me around a bit around 125 MPH. I could travel 110 or less mile after mile no problem in a tuck. Keep the weight on the ***** of your feet which should be over your pegs and your wrists, off your butt. Use your calfs, thighs and forearms for shocks. When you get a few more miles under your belt a 400 mile day will be nothing. A 125 mile ride is good fun for before or after dinner.

I have a dual purpose Suzuki, a Yamaha, Honda, several Harley's. Have owned Ducs, Laverdas, BMWs, Triumphs, BSAs and most everything else. If I can give you a word of advice it's to suit up and realize how little you know about riding. You will go down. The longer you ride and the more experience you gain will decrease the odds of it because of something easily preventable.

Have fun!

I am not a motorcycle rider. But, the Monster S4RS is my favorite bike of all time. I would ride a Ducati any day.
