Default exhaust swap/sale

Hello everyone,
Just bought my first 996TT! LOVE IT!

The first thing Id like to do to it is go back to the stock exhaust, or to another exhaust/muffler that isn's so loud. While I like the aggressive sound the current aftermarket sport exhaust makes, it is a little loud for my taste.

If anyone is interested in a swap, let me know.
Im in the Albuquerque area.

Jon

Jon, it's really hard to tell from your pictures. Try and get a few behind the bumper cover.

I found out the exhaust is from Race Precision. its their GT exhaust.

"Our GT exhaust system features 3" mandrel tubing and dual ultra high flow metal matrix converters. This GT system was designed for maximum flow without the unbearable loudness found with many other 3" systems. All RPi exhausts are constructed from high quality T304 stainless steel, 100% made in the United States and come with a limited lifetime warranty"

I would be willing to sell you my factory exhaust pretty cheap. I'm never going to use it. I would just have to pick it up from Switzer Performance. If interested E-mail me at mpaolino@att.net

OP- FYI, the 'X50' and the 996TT exhausts are exactly the same....

The RPI website sure has very little to say about the system. Would be nice to hear some more feedback--I've never heard of this particular system before. I am interested in a swap, but afraid that if you think it's too loud I probably will too. I am 6 hrs north of you in Ouray, CO and have a lift in my shop garage. You ever have occasion to come up this way?

I had this exact same exhaust on my last 996 TT and it made awesome power just on a stock K16 car with an EPL tune.

I bought an RPI exhaust, and it stayed on my car for exactly 2 weeks before I took it off (paying the mechanic both ways--install and removal 2 weeks later) then I sold it 6 months later at a vastly lower price than I paid.
RPI builds a beautiful exhaust, and it certainly adds a good bit of power to the car as it is essentially, as the name implies, a race exhaust system. However, it is not a street system. In certain areas, it might even be considered non-street legal due to noise levels. I hated the drone--it was actually painful at 2000 RPM.
If you track the car a lot and don't mind wearing ear plugs or are partly deaf, this is the exhaust for you. Actually, its a great performance system for those that focus on track driving or racing. If not, ditch the system if you value your hearing longevity. I was thoroughly and completely unable to accept its deafening drone around town.
Best of luck, you are making the right move in removing that exhaust
