Default Price check On 2004 996 TT 6 spd please

I am looking at a 2004 996 tt with an original sticker of $165k. Car has less than 30k miles, CPO, 30k service complete, x50 and PCCB's. Excellence shows $50k for 2004 on high side but doesn't account for extensive options. What is a fair price for this car? I hear people talking about high $40's to low $50's but I am not seeing exceptional cars (low mileage, CPO, all records, extensive options and no mods) in this range. I appreciate opinion but am looking for facts (recent prices paid or received on similar year/condition cars).

Thank you!

Generally expensive or any options for that matter add to the price on the secondary market on a car going on 9 years old. They may make the car more appealing and sell faster. Good news for the buyer!

When I bought my '99 996 cab it had well over $20K in options. It was a special car but I paid the same as a stripper, that's when it was 4 years old. Lucky for the find!

CPO is woth extra to anyone - price an aftermarket service contract to confirm
low mileage is worth something
records are worth something - confirms it was well taken care of
X50, PCCB would not add value for me
if you got this car for less than 50, you might be brought up on theft charges

Thank you fly2low. The seller is asking $65k so I am at the other end of the spectrum. Beautiful car and the probably the most loaded one in the country but that seems like a ton of money. What I am wanting to know from the group is an appropriate value for this car based on recent sales of other 996 TT's.

I think $55k would be a good deal, if you can get them into the $50s, you're doing fine.

Second what Paul said. 55k would be a steal IMO for a 2004 equipped like that. What color exterior/interior is the car? How much of a hurry are you in? I cringe at the idea, but if you can wait a 991 Turbo being released could shift the values of 996 and 997 Turbos down a bit. I for one hope that I'm just talking out of my posterior which could very well be the case with what Porsche are charging for even a 99S these days.

I was not really aware that PCNA would give you a CPO on an 8 year old car... how does that work, two more years??

"Factory Options" appeals to only a subset of current buyers- the ability to easily exceed the performance of a factory option at a fraction of the cost means many just do that. The value of a "stock" car, without any non-factory mods will be to those collectors that value this nuance. Will you be a driver or collector?

My car stickered for 153 and I paid 77....five years ago, in 2007. Same as this one but no PCCBs. (Nice to think I've driven for 45 years and 33k miles and only cost me, what, 20k?) What gen pccbs will this be, gen1? some issues with them as I recall, worth a search.

I am sure the seller will find someone that NEEDS a 'stock w/ factory option' car. Is that you?

GL

I didn't know about the CPO option after factory warrant either until I found this car. The seller claims this adds $5k to the cost????

Factory stock does appeal to me. I plan to use as a DD, however, I only drive about 5k per year (work out of my house).

PCCB's are gen 1 so they may be problematic but who knows. I do plan to track the car 4 or 5 times a year and I used to race for 8 years so I will use them )

I am a sucker for a unique car and probably just looking for validation for my stupidity.

Thank you!

I just went through the 996 buying experience. Spent a few months and looked at a lot of cars. At one point was looking at a very low mileage'03 x50 that was higher priced and someone mentioned that it was getting close to 997 pricing. Then another guy mentioned that if I could get a 996 under $50k, it couldn't depreciate much more. It also leaves money to mod the car to higher than x50 HP. Seemed like good advice.

FWIW ended up buying a '02 with 22,000 miles for $47.5. Came with full records, IMO one of the most important options. Doing a few DE events this spring and then I'm going to start modding.

By way of some comparison, as I posted in another thread, I came across an arctic silver 03 Turbo X50 6-speed (steel brakes) with an asking price of $65K. At a nearby dealer. One owner car. Less than 23K miles. Appears based on my admittedly quick go over to be in good condition. No warranty.

Sincerely,

Macster.

You need to find out how much time is left on the CPO warranty. Two years CAN add up to $5K in value. If there is only two months left then it's obviously not going to be worth as much.

Per dealer and Porsche literature you have 2 years from date of when I would take delivery or 100K miles.

Looking forward to seeing pics of this Turbo. Have you committed to a purchase already?

Negotiating at this point. If we can agree on price tomorrow I will see if someone lives locally to check it out in person or fly out myself and see the car this week All on the internet so far and I know pictures don't tell the whole story.

I passed on an '01 after PPI last week so am being more cautious until I have all the facts.
