996 TT suspension
hello all,
I know this topic has been discessed previouslly
but I am in the process of replacing my suspension on my car...
car has- had actually cause is off at the moment stock suspension an set up...
I would like to upgrade and try to Find a set up close to a GT (grand tourer)
i.e. better than stock
long distance comfort
as well as sporty feeling if needed
any thoughts?

The ROW suspension you have is already a pretty good setup. The Bilstein PSS10s are supposed to be really comfortable compared to stock if you need adjustable shocks and ride height. Otherwise, lowering springs and sport bilstein shocks?

from what I have heard ROW suspension is not that good ( whaen it comes to a point to be replaced)
I am not saying that it is not good at all...
according your suggestions I am just listening at the moment i have no idea what to go for...

The suspension on mine is firmer than my 928, but if you get in a GT2/GT3...........then you appreciate the suspension set up we have. If you make it much softer and it doesn't like the twisties as much. Try a few cars out near you?

Harris,
I waited a couple of years to see how people liked the PSS9, PSS10, JIC, Ohlins, Moton, ROW, KW, H&R, Stock GT-2, etc etc etc. I drive my car daily (read alot of miles) short and long distances. Comfort was a primary concern, build quality was a primary concern, rebuildable was a primary need, corrosion resistance was a primary need and something I could tune up at a track if I wanted was also something I wanted.
At the end it took me about 2 or so years to read and understand what everyone had to say about all the above plus a few. I finally decided on the KW Clubsports and stayed with the KW factory spring rates. At the time of install I upgraded to Porsche Motorsport adjustable sways and Tarett drop links. The KW Clubsports came with monoballs. I absolutely love them. The roads where I live are deplorable at best for more than 70% of my commute and the system I have handles it all very nicely.
We put a slight rake to the car with the ride height and dialed out a ton of understeer and the car just rides phenomenal. I was very concerned the KW factory springs would be too much for these roads but when I called to talk with thier engineering folks and with my installer I was convinced to leave them as is and I am glad I did. It took a really awesome car and made it one hell of a fun car and the ride height looks killer (mine is a daily driver in snow, rain, sleet, sun, etc.).
Cost wise I was probably in the middle of the pack - the Motons and Ohlins probably are on the extreme high end and ROW on the lower end. I did not have to put in the sways or drop links but the cost was already spent once we pull it all apart for the replacement and the adjustability was something I wanted.
It will soon get GT 2 width rims and tires and be heading back this year for some track time.
One of my major complaints in the stock 996 Turbo was the suspension (and seating) - my opinion is that what I have suits my daily driving just right.
Hope this helps and good luck!!
T2 - continues to knock on wood!!!

Been a while since I read about it myself but isn't the key feature that the KW V3 has over the PSS10 that you can adjust compression and rebound independently? I vote you go KW Paul, especially as it will better match your new brake calipers.

since I cannot reach the limit of the stock suspension
since I am not track orientated
since my driving abillities are very close to the average
I am not looking for something that I cannot adjust the compression and rebound independently.
in order to to that you will first haveto be able to reach the limit of the stock susunsion, in order to search for something at higher standards,
on the other hand, in order to adjust the settings of a adjustable suspension you need knowledge not how to do it ( mechanically - a workshop will do it for you) but knoledge what to ask for
this is the reason why I need a non adjustable set up
which of course will be cheaper than the adjustable
more suitable to my needs
better than stock ( which is much higher for what i need since stock is already high for my abillities)
thanks

My car got a set of PSS10 yesterday. Much firmer and better cornering than stock ROW suspension. Touring comfort is pretty much the same. I have setting 6 in front and 4 rear. Lowered about 1cm from ROW ride height.
To me a great advantage with PSS10 is that you can get a great cornering car without lowering your car too much loosing everyday driveability - parking house ramps, speed bumbs etc

You're probably never going to get it to ride like an SL500 though.
