Oops, forgot to mention that I did check and yes the Psm is on. The Psm wasn't flashing when the revs were flying. I shoulda thought about this earlier. This further confirms that it's probably my clutch. The part that confused me was when the clutch held in higher gears the other day when the weather warmed up. I'll keep an eye on it and do a follow up post.

I've reved it about 10 times in higher gears to make it slip b/c I was trying to see if it was my tires or not. If there is plenty of disc thickness, what else could be making my clutch slip. I've got about 60k on the car. I should mention that I've got Kevin's flash too.

Well, Kevin's flash isn't going to help it not slip.
I am not sure if there is any adjustment to these clutches or not. I had a 951 years ago that had a slipping clutch right after replacement. Shop adjusted something and all was good. Anyone else chime in?
Also, the release bearing could be binding on the shaft intermittently. This would prevent the pressure plate from applying full force to the clutch disk and flywheel. Could explain why it is not consistent and varies some with temperature.
Best of luck.

Mine did 42k before it gave up the ghost. My symptoms were identical to the OP, in 4,5,6 gears, as the rpm neared peak HP, the engine would race...you let up of the go pedal and it "catches" back up. I don't know what the difference is in parts, but my 05 TT"S" was right at 3800k to replace at the Porsche dealer. I could have saved a couple of hundred by using the local repair shop, but I managed to talk the dealer into paying 50% of it.

At this point, I'm positive its the clutch. Hey guys, while the clutch is getting replaced, I'm looking to do a full tune up. Here's my list so far:
New spark plugs
997 coil pack
Air filter
anything else???
