will any ecu work if I reflash it?
I have a boxster ecu 996.618.605.00
Am I able to put code on it for an OEM 2002 turbo? I want to see what a stock tune drives like.
Has anyone tried this before? ( it was from a 2000-2002 base boxster)

Not possible. Different Motronics.. Different engine, different software family and structure.

I was thinking a non M96 engine would not work with this ECU...thank you for confirming. My tech will flash me back to stock but keeps telling me I will be sorry if I do. I have a flash now and want to see what a stock car drives like.

Let us know your opion after back to stock. I would love/hate to see what mine would feel like if I went back to stock from UMW stage 2. I am sure it would be a real drag.
