If my Turbo didn't make it's normal" rattling race engine at idle" sound then I would worry, 67,000 miles+, and it sounds the same as it always has. If any of my other cars did the same sound I would worry about them, lol

Ok I read about all the rattles including the heat shield, here is what the rattle turned out to be on my 2004 996 Turbo x50 cab, the coolant overflow drain hose was hitting the heat shield. moved it and no more rattle, it was resting between the turbo and the head, near the turbo's oil line, go figure it could make that much noise, so if your rattle is on the left side it just might be that. Car runs very nice now. Yes it still has the normal idle sound we all know and love just not the annoying rattle. Hope this helps someone.
