Default Bought tuned 996TT - what's best way to confirm tune is safe?

Thanks in advance.

I bought my turbo! I picked it up just north of NYC on Sunday afternoon and drove it home to Toronto. It was an awesome drive and from all angles, the car feels great. All smiles so far !!!

But I have limited visibility on the car's tune and I want to confirm that it is safe.

How would you do that?

Will a data logger give me all the relevant data points or should I bring it to a tuner (Pcar specialist) for confirmation?

Not really looking to tune it for now, just want to make sure all is okay in there.

Do you know what tune it is? If so, I would contact the vendor of your tune and get them to help.

Its a custom tune with an in cabin EVC. I tried to track the tuner and data file down, but was unable.

Car drives strong - but other than a dyno without A/Fs listed, Im nowhere on the tuning.

Im thinking a durametic or something similar. Im hearing that UMW may have a new tool out for this, but I cant find it on the site.

Reaching out to those here (and I emailed Kevin) for advice.

My first (and only) suggestion would be to call Kevin. He will get you totally taken care of.

yup a durametric will be your friend. Also remember that YOU control the boost now, and need to change the EBC's settings when it gets cold out. I would recommend getting the manual for the EBC and learning it well. How much boost are you running, on what mods?

Is this the car with the Franbacher Loles custom ECU program that was for sale by a private owner?

Need to be careful on how much boost you dial in. The base 996tt with the k16's are only capable of going to a certain amount to maintain reliability. If I am not mistaken not much past 1 bar.

If this is the car I think it is, it has EVOMS K16/K24 hybrid turbos.

Yes Dock, thats the car.

Ive turned the EVC off and am just driving it casually with the base flash, which looks like it peaks at 1Bar.

Im driving it casually until I can get the tune confirmed as safe, and I think that its likely that I will have the EVC taken out or Ill just keep it turned off. I have no desire to push the limits (for now!)...

The car sure does run well and my tech couldnt believe how clean it looked from underneath.

"Casual" driving at 1 bar peak - what's noncasual?

Sounds like you got a great ride! Kevin is the man to speak to about tuning.

Peaks at 1Bar but the car is making fun of me all day long shouting BOOST 0.0BAR at me!

Clear side markers would look great!
