seriously , whats a solid price for a 2003 996TT?
I am looking at a solid 2003 996TT tip with less than 20k miles . It is in great condition. it is a Tip with very few options. They are asking 57.5 . What do you think I could get it for? It is a non Porsche dealer. This may be the one. I know , I know what people are going to say, its worth what someone pays for it. To me, it seems high. I think 50 is fair. Any thoughts?

Excellence just did an article about current pricing for the 996 turbo. Many were in the $40-high 50's but it was mileage and MY related. Have you researched Autotrader.com etc. to get a feel for pricing? GL

I have researched quite a bit. But what they are asking and what they are getting are much different. I have seen many of the same cars for sale online for months. This is my concern.

In June 09 I paid $57.7K for an 03 with 10K miles in great condtion, 6-speed with all the standard options and not much else (no NAV, no heated seats for instance) and with 2 years, 100K miles of CPO warranty.
Seems unlikely to me an 03 Tip with more miles (than my 03 had when I bought it) sans any warranty would be worth within a few hundred dollars of nearly the same price over 2 years later.
Non-Porsche dealer?
I've found sometimes non-Porsche dealers pick up a nice Porsche (or other similar brand of car) for use as a halo car or as showroom candy. (Some years ago when I was shopping for a Boxster I encountered a Nissan dealer in Blue Springs MO that had both a nice used Boxster S and a nice used Mercedes SLK on its showroom floor.)
Since the non-Porsche dealer's bread and butter is selling other cars he can afford to ask big money for this halo Porsche and wait in the hopes he lands a whale. His bottom line isn't going to be impacted very much at all paying the flooring costs for a used Porsche.
To get a feel for the market for these cars, visit www.autotrader.com and see what 996 Turbos are available. Use all 996 Turbo model years, both manual and Tip equipped cars, Cab and coupes, and any distance from your location.
Visit www.kbb.com or www.nada.com (or other sites like these) and plug in the car's details and see what numbers pop up for prices.
As Barn996 pointed out Excellence just did a buyers guide on these (I don't think I have this issue yet) and that's another data point.
As a buyer I'd seek any reasonable pricing info that I could use to justify making a lower offer.
Remember price is not fact only an opinion.
Happy shopping!
Sincerely,
Macster.

I own and am trying to sell my 03 996TT w 25k miles, Tip.
grey w complete full leather everywhere in natural brown,
perfect condition. the best offer I can get is $45.
I would seriously consider anything closer to $50.
no pics yet, prob on Monday.

bought a very clean cpo'd 2002x50 car in 04/'09 with 27k miles for $47k from a pcar dealer with the 2yr cpo.
in 07/'11 it was totalled and my insurance co paid me out at a current value of $59K! with 54k miles.
i then picked up VERY clean high mileage but thoughtfully modded ( and mechanic owned ) '03 for $42k.
so i actually made money ( 10K! ) on my x50 car after buying from a dealer and racking up 25k miles!..
proving that prices are all over the place on our cars.. still. good luck if you buy!

Low mileage is an increasingly valuable wild card: as the model ages there are less and less low mile cars. A buyer who values this will have to pay more.
As a seller, if you are willing to wait, you can find that buyer-
and as a buyer, TELLING that seller they are too high, and NEED to lower their price, is folly.
