Rear bumper removal
Is there anything special about removing the 996tt rear bumper, or is it pretty much the same as any other 996 bumper? Not much showed up doing a search on this forum, but there is some pretty good info on the 996 forum.
While checking all my lights today before taking the car to VA state inspection, I found that both license plate lights weren't working. Both bulbs looked pretty shot, but after I replaced them with new ones they still didn't work. Searching on this topic on the 966 forum leads me to think that there's a good probability the plate light harness wasn't plugged in when the previous owner had the bumper off, but I'll need to remove the bumper to confirm.
I decided not to take the car in for inspection until after I address this. While the state inspectors often overlook license plate lights, I don't want to end up with the one who fails me because of this. Plus I want to fix it so I can drive the car at night without giving the Men/Women in Blue an excuse for pulling me over.

As expected, it turned out the license plate light wiring harness was not plugged in. I didn't have to take the bumper all the way off, but I was able to loosen things up enough to slip a hand in there and plug it in. Problem solved; thanks for the tips!!
