How much is the 997 SSK? I have been tossing around going with a regular 997TT shifter too, but can't decide.

I'm going from memory, but I think the 997 is 25% shorter and the B&M is 35% shorter.

It's very precise, and notchy is a word that could be used to describe that. I like it, the mushiness of the stock shifter drove me batty. I was able to get mine off of a member at 6speed, but I think Suncoast in probably the least expensive new.

This one? : http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...ode=996tttrans

I would think a 35% reduction in throw would also be notchy like the B&M setup. I drove a friends car with the B&M and it was too notchy for me.

I got this one.

It says 15% (my mistake), but it feels like more than that. Very smooth and overall a big improvement. I don't plan to track so this is a really good middle ground between performance and smoothness. Much better than the stock 996 shifter.

Okay. That is the stock 997 shifter not the 997 SSK. I have been considering that one the most due to price and and the shift reduction. I don't think I would like the 35% reduction. It would be too short. It is a SSK option for the 996, but all the available options make it confusing.

The key with the B&M is to be overly **** with the cable adjustments. My B&M is slightly notchy only in cold weather and only until the transmission is warm. Even then it is only slightly notchy between 1-2 and 2-1 shifts. Once the transmission is warmed up it shifts smooth as glass, and with very little physical effort, up and down through all the gears. In warm weather, it's not notchy on initial start up.

As I've said here before, the addition of the EVOMS ShiftLink really made the shift package complete. I can't think of a shifter I'd trade it for.

It is not too short. It is exactly how it should be. I really am impressed with the change. It feels perfect and very solid.

I'd have to say this is the case for me too with the 997 SSK. I've never experienced the B&M so I can't make a comparison.

Craig, The 997SSK is simply amazing... I've loved mine since I bought it. It isn't notchy for me, but the key is the cables... how new they are, and how well adjusted they are.

What cables are you using? I have heard that the GT3 cables are supposed to be better than the stock ones. I have 68k miles so maybe the cables are needing replacement.

Mike, so when you shift there's no feel when you move in and out of gears? I just installed mine last weekend, but it has a decided pop going in and out. But it's really precise. I thought it was supposed to be like that.
