Go slotted. The GDs I have are on a no-BS special, they last a TON longer than the holed garbage...

I'll be moving to slotted after I blow through my last remaining set of OEM "junk"

Right on, no need to toss anything before the end of it's useful life.

Careful, Craig, or you'll get targeted by DOCK, the "expert" in all things Porsche ...

Been on Rennlist in it's different forms since 1999 when it was an e-mail listserv, grown a nice thick skin in the meantime, and have a built in BS detector in place of a lung or somethin'.
I'm ready :-)

Here hopefully is a pic of my junk OE rotors, after only 7000miles road use, on my 996T not much actual wear but lots of cracks. They are also the bigger 350mm discs from 997 turbo and gt3 calpiers. They would be fine if they were not drilled. Mikelly is 100% correct, what were Porsche thinking when they fitted them!

Mine got like that, but that was on track. I am very surprised to see that much cracking after just 7000 miles of road use.

Definitely would recommend the slotted rotors from Girodisk or Coleman for you.

Yeah I'm definately getting 2 piece slotted rotors next time, they are more expensive but I'm sure will work out cheaper in the long run.

I'm surprised how quickly they've cracked, I don't even feel like i'm that hard on them. I drive slow most of the time but will have to admit to giving in to temptation now and then

Yea, that's exactly WHY I call them junk, but hey, what do I know... Porsche and Brembo designed them for a reason, right? And why should we question them, right? It's just OUR money and THEIR product, right?

Are they all like that, or just one? I wonder if maybe you have a stuck caliper piston.

I'd also recommend that you pull out a pad and run a finger over the piston dust seals to see if they have become brittle and cracked.

Just hard to imagine getting that much heat into the rotor on the street.

I agree. Something is amiss here.

Macster has over 57k miles on his original pads and rotors, and I have over 37k miles on my original pads and rotors. Neither of our cars have anything remotely close to the damage shown on AndyMc's car. I don't have any cracks on any of my rotors.

Both front rotors are like that inside and out. The calipers were brand new and were fitted at the same time as the rotors, they still look as new.

One thing I did notice is the rear rotors look normal, which has made me wonder if fitting the larger kit to the front may have changed the brake balance causing the fronts to do more than their fair share of the work, but its a common upgrade so it seems unlikely.

My previous car was a Subaru Impreza sti (280 hp 1520kg) and here is a pic of the front brakes on that which look fine, both cars have had similar use over the same roads at similar pace.

I don't know why they have done it and was expecting better from Porsche as a flagship sports car maker

Two things: 1) I note you are in the UK. Cars (well, Porsches) seem to suffer terribly from brakes rusting. Cars that are used little or used (or washed) and put away wet suffer even more. The inside rotor faces have in some cases become so bad the iron has started to flake off.

2) Some of that damage is from overheating. This calls into question (sorry) your driving ability. Many a driver will ride the brakes and this overheats them terribly. Another contributor can be damaged/missing underbody brake cooling ducting or possible (dare I say it?) aftermarket wheels that restrict air flow through the brakes.
