How about adding part numbers to the rest of the items on the list? Thanks.

I added the ones that I know- I'll add the rest when my shipment from Sunset arrives.

Thanks again for creating this thread. I'm a newbie and I already did my 60K service. I wouldn't have missed a couple items here if this thread was started earlier. Hopefully, this will help other new owners and be around when I am ready to do my 90K.

What should the spark plug gap be for the FR6 LDC?

Does anyone know the procedure for adding coolant once its drained prior to changing coolant hoses? I have heard it can be problematic keeping air out of the system.

For a 1 bar file run em out of the box..

I recommend the Snap On Radkitplus bleeder. You can use the factory PIWIS OR PST2 to bleed the system but the Snap On tool is quicker and easier to get the iar out.

Kevin - I am about to order the RadKitPlus and was wondering: do you have to run the engine to get the thermostat open before you use it to drain and fill coolant or is it used while the engine is running? It looks like a pretty neat set up - just not sure exactly how it works and would get all of the coolant flushed out.

The Radkit use is with the engine off. Your air compressor will be running full tilt.

Kevin, what are your thoughts on replacing the water pump and t-stat?

I just talked to a guy with a 01, 56k miles, his WP went out- overheated... First I've heard of this on a GT1 motor car...

You're considering replacing the water pump because of one report of a failure at 56k miles (and you only have 26k miles on your car)?

Ummmm.... Dock, you and I disagree on maintenance intervals...

The car is 8 years old... So I'd like to replace some items that tend to fail, like the coilpacks, plugs, coolant hoses, etc. If the water pump or t-stat fail frequently, I'd rather replace now that be on the side of the road waiting for AAA to show up for a tow. Or worse, overheat my motor and $$$$.....

Goes along with my 3k mile oil change intervals.

Is there data that shows how frequently coilpacks and coolant hoses fail?

If you find out that instead of one water pump failure, there have been two or three failures (at similar or higher mileage than the 56k miles example), you think that justifies replacing yours at 26k miles?

I think sometimes it's good that this forum doesn't get any more traffic than it does, as many times the threads and posts here read like a car hypochondriac forum.

Maybe a complete engine overhaul at 40k miles is something people here should consider. You can't be too safe.

These parts are cheap (my mechanic's labor is cheap- and straight time). Piece of mind for me. Let's leave it at that.
